“Great place to unwind and relax.”
Reviewed December 9, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Beautiful part of the world. Wonderful view and very private. Weather conditions change quickly - from hot and sunny to cold windy and wet - but stil breathtaking views no matter what conditions. All food provided was fresh and/or homemade which was a lovely touch - especially the banana bread. 20-25 min drive from Hobart but a lovely drive. Plenty of nearby restaurants to eat. Definitely would go back and stay there.

“If you are visiting Hobart this is THE place to stay”
Reviewed November 8, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

My partner and I spent three nights at The Boat Shed. We didnt want to leave! The location is spectacular and the accommodation equally so. Everything about this place is special. It feels so comfortable, cosy and welcoming. Judy has thought of everything, right down to the homemade bread. We couldnt believe the wonderful breakfast provisions. Everything had been provided. If youre looking for a secluded, restful and romantic hideaway then look no further. Its the perfect spot to while away days on end or to use as a base to explore this wonderful part of Tasmania. You cannot possibly be disappointed...except having to leave. We will certainly be back

We enjoyed a great 9 day stay at the Boatshed. Everything was really well thought out and Judy does a wonderful job to make your stay a treat. All the good things for breakfast provided and a freshly baked cake to make you even more welcome. All this was replenished mid-stay to make sure we didn't starve! The view out over the bay is amazing and never disappoints, no matter the weather.
Although out in the country, it is a central spot, an easy drive into Hobart over the Tasman bridge or north to Richmond or East over to Sorrel or Port Arthur.Nothing is very far away.
We found that the meals at South Arm RSL are worth the 10 minute trip for those who don't want to cook dinner, great food at great prices and supporting the locals.

“Superb views in a fantastic location”

The Boat Shed is a beautiful private retreat on the outskirts of Hobart. It has180 degree views of the Derwent River across to Hobart City. It is also comfortable and cosy with all the facilities from cooking to washing. As well as lovely walking tracks along the shore. We loved our quiet and calm 3 days here. An amazing location so close to Hobart. The only extra to complete the perfection would be a heater in the bathroom!

“beautiful views”

The view from this place is quite simply magic. I took photo after photo and still couldn't take enough pictures to remember how beautiful it is. It has everything you could want, washer and clothes line, Judy would be happy to help, fresh baked banana bread on arrival - and spotlessly clean. Kitchen well appointed with anything you need. It's a little hard to find, but follow the map and it's worth it. It's not in Hobart and you'll need a car, but if you want to wake up to mountains and water views, this is your place. Loved our stay.

“An amazing place to stay in Tasmania”

We have stayed at the Boat Shed for a number of years and we plan to return again next time we are in Tasmania, hopefully next year. There are a number of reasons why we have stayed here so many times. The first is Judy and Allan make you feel so welcome and go out of their way to make your stay special. Secondly the Boat Shed is a beautiful place for a couple to stay surrounded by magnificent scenery – imagine waking up to see the sunrise over the bay with Mount Wellington in the distance – breath taking.

The first thing you notice when you arrive is how well Judy has prepared the cottage. The fridge and cupboards are groaning with provisions to make your stay more comfortable. Although the cottage is compact it contains everything you could need for a relaxing holiday. There is even a BBQ if you require it although sometimes when the wind is in the wrong direction this can be quite challenging 

It’s also worth mentioning the other occupants that you might meet particularly Fraser, Barney and Tilly who may come and sniff around to see who’s around. Fraser is a very friendly pooch but it’s fair to say he is not always the brightest of the bunch but he will happily play fetch (normally a whole tree!) for hours.

Overall this is a great place to stay and although you can see Hobart from the deck it feels like you are a million miles away. Even so central Hobart is an easy 15-20 minute drive but there is plenty nearby to keep anyone occupied. Opossum Bay is a great place for a picnic and you won’t find it any guide books so it is generally quiet.
