Description: Blue Eye is a quality seafood restaurant on Hobart's waterfront, cooking fresh and tasty local fish and seafood. It has a modern menu specialising in grilled fish dishes, seafood platters, and fish and chips.Try some local Bruny Island oysters or Spring Bay mussels to start, followed by char-grilled fish, a seafood curry, paella or real-ale battered fish and chips. The dishes change regularly depending on what fish is available. For the non-fish eater there are steaks, char-grilled to order, as well as vegetarian and gluten free dishes. Take away food is also available.

A Monday evening - no need to book we thought. We got a table OK but the restaurant was packed - virtually all unbooked. Only two waitresses on (one of whom was heavily pregnant). They rushed around non-stop, apologizing when we had to wait a while.

The food was wonderful, though I imagine the kitchen was under a lot of pressure as well.

We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend it.

Fresh beautiful fish cooked simply and well. Great location. A little bit of Europe on the waterfront.

Blue Eye is a nice surprise. A well run, small and conveniently located seafood restaurant, it serves very good food with excellent service. Recommended.

Started with a lovely cold share platter with an Asian slant. Very fresh and tasty. For main I ordered the baked blue eye and loved it. Good flavour and portion size. Partner ordered an octopus salad. Happy with flavour but possibly too chargrilled and left unimpressed with the iceberg lettuce and presentation. Highlight was the byo option.. Had been to winery during trip and able to enjoy a bottle over dinner rather than lugging it back home. A very plesant meal.

Over cooked fish, cold sauces, no salad with children’s meals and plates removed before everyone had finished eating. This was our final night in Hobart and, with so many great choices, Blue Eye was a major disappointment.Very dissapointed with Blue Eye.
