We had a great day with Mark as our tour guide! We packed in so much, which was my intention as we only had the one day in Winter when many of the tours were a bit shorter. Mark picked us up in a minivan at 8 from our hotel as promised, and with 6 of us as passengers we had a great small group tour. Mark knew everything there was to know about Tassie generally, and was a mad sports fan to boot! He was definitely a character, which is what we wanted (not some "grey mid-range comfortable en masse thing). There was an ongoing video presentation on convict history and an individual's story, broken up over the day. Seeing Richmond was excellent and most of the tours didn't include Richmond. Nice bakery for a breakfast stop and lots of photo opportunities. Then lots of info and tips on our way to Port Arthur, where we had suggestions as to what order to do things in, what not to miss, etc. We had a great time listening to the introductory talk, wandering around the site and buildings, going on the harbour cruise (all included) and then seeing the museum with a hot snack at the end. Then we had a good trip back which included some other stops (eg spectacular Tasmans Arch) and a tassie devils DVD documentary while we dozed on what was a surprisingly long trip (not noticed as much on the way down!) Totally recommended. Great at a much higher price, but it wasn't. It was a bargain and a fabulous day out. Thanks, Mark!
