I have dined at this well kept secret quit a few times now and I will just keep returning.
The setting, view, friendly attentive staff, food to die for, Close to the city, yet very private, good menu, with excellant food quality. What more can one say?

We went on a rainy Monday night, and warmed our bottoms in front of the fire before sitting. Six of us were very well fed. I can't believe some-one from Sydney would find the usual prices here expensive, but the mini-Monday was exceptional!! The "mini-Monday" deal was three courses (your choice from a long list) in any order you wanted, for $38. I thought the serves would be small, but they were average to large, and I couldn't finish my third course, but the teenage boy helped of course! Attentive staff, lots of people in, and looking forward to going back on a Friday as the same deal has been introduced as a "Fab Friday". If the quality stays this good, that's a bargain!

Nice view but the food was nothing special. Its not like anything terrible happened, its just that it wasn't worth the price.

We joined some friends (who live in Hobart) for a relaxed lunch at the Boat House Restaurant, On the Beach, Cornelian Bay (about 10 minutes drive out of Hobart). You can park at the door, in a little park surrounded by Gulls, Ducks, Black Swans, Corellas and other birds. A wonderful little communication with the local birdlife and set on the banks of the Derwent River looking out to the Tasman Bridge – on a sunny afternoon you would not wish to be anywhere else.
The menu was varied and the food first rate. Between the four of us we tried local Bruny Island Oysters (they must be natural – some lemon and pepper) – we prefer them to out beloved Sydney Rock Oysters. Leg of Duck was beautifully prepared and the best duck I have enjoyed for a long time. The local fish superb and the steaks first class and wonderfully cooked. My wife enjoyed her pork dish which was a compilation of slow-cooked pork belly and sausage, beautifully presented and cooked. Again, a Pinot Gris from the Derwent area to wash the food down was well received.
We will visit again, service was excellent and the prices more than acceptable for such high quality dining in such a special environment.

We took friends from interstate here for a meal not so long ago, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal with a nice restful view of the bay and the river from our table. Service and quality of food is excellent, and there is a good wine list. The decor is pleasant and seating comfortable. Tabling is not overly crowded, so conversations are easy and you don't find yourself raising your voice above any general noise level which can be so all-pervading in some restaurants. Serve size is good - not too much, but totally adequate.
It's pleasing to see that they have opened a take-away section, as this area is popular for its excellent playground, and it's close to sprtsgrounds which have had very poor access to food up until now.
