This little hotel has great rooms. They're small, but new. The beds are very comfortable, too.

There is only one issue: the shower floods the entire bathroom if you don't put enough towels on the floor. Hotel management says they are in the process of re-designing every shower to address this problem.

My brief trip to Hobart was made very comfortable with the stay overnight in Hotel Collins. I would recommend this hotel for its friendly and very helpful staff, who were always looking out for the best interests of guests. Coffee and meals were well presented and breakfast (Continental) was excellent. Room was comfortable and I liked the plunger coffee available in the room too.

the 1st room given to us had a very bad smell, like the smell of poop. We complained and were given a new room very quickly. Overall a very good place for travellers and business people. Due to the strong winds on that night the sleep quality could have been better, but otherwise the bed was really comfortable with fresh clean sheets. Felt the room was a little small or would have given the rooms 5 points.

My husband and i arrived at Hotel Collins in the morning and our room wasnt availble so we left our bags and they called us later when our room was ready. When we returned to the hotel our bags were in our room. The room (Queen Deluxe @ $117 per night - Bargain!!) was small (but didnt affect our stay) but very comfortable, neat and clean. The only annoyance is the shower screens but the hotel are already trying to rectify the problem so didnt bother us. Just more linen for the hotel to wash! They also had good pillows which can be hard to come by in hotels. We only ordered room service which was good- toasted s/wich and chips. The staff were the nicest in our whole trip to Tasmania. They couldnt do enough for you. We were recommended a restaurant by one of the staff (wish i could remember her name) called Smolt located in Salamanca Square and it was devine! the location of the hotel itself is great too. There were no exploding views from our room but I dont go away to stay in our room for any long length of time so there wasnt a need for us to have a view. It was two streets away from the shopping area and 2-3 blocks from the marina. No more than a 5-10 minute walk to Salamanca Place.

How refreshing to find a new hotel in one of Australia's capital city. nice new carpet, bedding and towels. Modern furniture and fittings. Sleek granite, glass and timber. The rates were very competitive and the service sensational. The Hotel Collins also has a trendy cafe in the foyer. The meals are a bit pricey and coffee strong but oveerall very good. The HC is only a block or two away from the city centre and only 10mins walk to trendy Salamanca. The free room internet is a great bonus.

Recommend this hotel in central Hobart. Booked a two bedroom apartment which configured as two separate units - one with kitchenette, lounge/dining, main bedroom and ensuite, the second as a conventional twin unit with ensuite - with connecting small entrance lobby. Perfect for a family with adult/teenage children or two couples. Very well appointed, good attention to detail, very comfortable beds and amazingly quiet for inner city. Very short walk to city centre, dock area and easy stroll to Salamanca. Good cafe/light meal on the ground floor, very good desk and house staff. We have sampled many accomodation options in Hobart in the recent past and will be returning to this hotel.

The Hotel Collins is a new, modern and stylish hotel. It is located in a convenient location 2 blocks from the main shopping area in the centre of Hobart and a relaxing stroll to Salamanca and the waterfront attractions. The rooms are clean, well appointed and the beds are extremely comfortable. They also have free high speed internet connection. The staff were very friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The Hotel has a small cafe which offers a great menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner or a relaxing drink from the bar and the room service menu was also excellent. We would highly recommend this hotel.
