I stay at hotel Collins every time I visit Hobart.
The rooms are clean and quiet, staff are lovely and friendly... The hotel is in a great location and The car park is a bonus.
I would highly recommend this hotel to professionals, families, couples and even singles.

We stayed for 2 nights at the hotel's standard room for our short trip in Hobart. Check in was smooth and quick and in a minute or so, we swiped into our room located on the 7th floor, facing Collins St.

The room was reasonably spacious with all the standard amenities expected from a 4.5 star hotel. The bathroom is modern & clean, with a bath tub as a bonus. The hotel is located conveniently near the tourist attractions and only a quick stroll to the waterfront and the rest of the CBD.

Our booking did not include breakfast but that wasn't a problem for us as there were plenty of great cafes nearby within walking distance from the hotel.

A worthy note to make is the excellent service provided by the hotel staff. Our phone and blackberry chargers malfunctioned on the first night. We panicked and tried our luck by calling the front desk to see if they have any spare chargers available - and most helpfully, they did. Thank you for such great service!

If I had to pick a fault in this hotel - it would be that it does not offer complementary car-parking. When we first arrived, we parked our car outside the hotel in the 5-mins parking zone to check in and drop off our luggage. For overnight parking, we parked our car in the nearby secured car-park (1 min walk from hotel), and as hotel guests, were offered a discounted rate (capped at AUD15 per day). We believe such rate is reasonable for a city hotel!

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay in Hotel Collins and will definitely return if we visit Hobart again.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the 04/05 rooms (e.g. 704 or 705) as these rooms face directly to the elevators.

Firstly to qualify, we stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment which was wonderfully spacious and offered a nice kitchenette.

We arrived and were placed on the 9th floor with a good view of the city as well as some limited view of the salamanca wharf (blocked partially by the multistory car park). Air con was down and the staff kindly offered us 2 drinks coupons as a service recovery gesture. Thankfully the aircon was fixed within the next day and posed no additional inconvenience. Staff was generally friendly and helpful.

Room is clean, modern yet cosy enough. Great location as it is next to the city and a short 5 mins walk to Salamanca Wharf. Ample parking at reasonable rates at next door private multistory car park (just remember to get your ticket stamped by the counter).

Overall a pleasant experience and if i ever do visit Hobart again, would definitely be a top consideration for me...

Room Tip: Good to be able to get the 1 bedroom apartments as i heard the standard rooms maybe a little bit of...

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Collins as part of our Tassie Getaway. Room was very clean and nicely decorated however it was a lot smaller than the images on the website would suggest (which is not uncommon, I know). I think we may have just been unlucky as our room had a floor to ceiling window (that at a glance, looked like it should be a glass sliding door) that looked out to a courtyard that appeared to be a bit of a dumping ground for maintenance / construction. Hotel is in a great location however you need to plan ahead if you have a car as all the street parking is 1-2 hours. There is a multi-level park close by for overnight parking however you need to be a bit strategic with your timing so it doesnt end up costing a bomb. Not sure if I would stay here again however it served a purpose.

Spent 6 nights here, and service was helpful & friendly, rooms spotless, and hotel is very well placed to walk nearly everywhere. We paid a higher rate for a King room, but others had a queen room, & but for the larger bed and a bath, size was pretty much identical, and don't think I'd bother for another stay.
