“Ticks All The Boxes”
Reviewed February 18, 2011

Recently ate at Piccolo on a week night.
Service very friendly as was the booking process
Small inside but very nice atmosphere.
Food very good and sensibly priced.
Really could not fault it at all.
You must book ahead ... we went at 6pm and were served quickly.
Go and enjoy.

“Just OK, nothing special”
Reviewed January 25, 2011

Dined on mid-Jan. Food was very nice, but service only OK - staff obviously didn't want to be there. The worst thing was the wine has 110% markup! Won't be going back in a hurry.

“Casual, trendy and tasty”
Reviewed October 5, 2010

Piccolo is in the busy North Hobart restaurant strip, but it tries a bit harder than most of the many competitors. It's a small, fairly noisy place and has a bit of buzz about it with its white walls and bentwood furniture. The young, black-clad staff are cheerful and attentive but not over-gushy.
Like most licensed places, you can't expect "really cheap", but there is an extensive menu of mainly Italian-accented "modern" dishes, plus a range of daily specials, and reasonable wine-by-the-glass prices. On quality, this place would compare with trendy bistros and winebars in Sydney or Melbourne - and the prices are comparable too.

“Fantastic menu, you must book - or be very disappointed.”
Reviewed January 29, 2010

Wonderful Italian cuisine, cooked to perfection and presented with style........the food melts in your mouth and the taste buds awaken, i could hear other patrons literally sigh consuming their meals....
Unfortunately you must book in advance ....do not bother thinking you can just drop in, you will be very disappointed.
Meals on average cost $30.00, they also have a limited range of wines and beer.
They do not open all day, Lunch and Dinner are at set times.

“Italian food to die for”
Reviewed June 24, 2009

After living in Hobart for 10 years I have finally found a restaurant that I can rave over and cannot wait until we get the opportunity to go back again - Piccolo. It is the style of Italian food you would expect at a top notch restaurant in Melbourne of even Rome. The food is a delightful mix of authentic and modern Italian dishes and tastes. Definitely no carbonara or meatballs on this menu. The severing came in a nice size and was good value at around $30 for a main. It is a small restaurant and its growing popularity means you do need to book in advance. They have a small but interesting wine list. They do both lunch and dinners
