“Best food in Hobart”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

Excellent food and excellent service. A small group of us chose a variety of mains dishes and were not disappointed with anything. Wine was delicious, service was excellent and very friendly, and we never felt rushed or ignored. The semifreddo dessert was the best dessert I've ever eaten in Hobart. YUM.

My only comment on the menu would be that it is quite limited for vegetarians. I'm not one, and didn't try the vego dish, but given the taste of the mains we ate, I bet it would be delicious as well.

“Delicious, innovative, bit pricey”
Reviewed January 4, 2013 via mobile

We sat at the bar by the window & watched the people of Hobart walk by. This was a last minute choice as it was 41degrees & Piccolos was close & air conditioned. Suckling pig with honey apples. Yum. Lamb with stuffed zucchini flowers also delicious. Good wine list and unobtrusive but attentive service. Highly recommend if you don't mind paying around $170 for 3 people with one course and wine.

“Likely to be your best meal in Hobart!”
Reviewed December 12, 2012 via mobile

We've lived in Hobart for 3 years and have tried probably 80% of all restaurants, from the cheap & cheerfuls to the fine diners. Piccolo has consistently been in our top 3, possibly favourite. Tonight we had entrees of the cod fritters & the crudo of trout - both very tasty, followed by the duck (a moist braised breast & a crispy spring roll like duck leg combo with freeze dried blackberries and a parsnip purée) and gnocchi special (duck in red wine ragu). We forced ourselves to fit in dessert - a strawberry & nougat semifreddo with mini meringue & a creme brûlée. All 6 plates presented well and were delicious - good value with 2 glasses of wine each & bill $170. A beautiful small intimate restaurant that continues to impress.

“Close to best food ever eaten!”
Reviewed December 5, 2012 via mobile

Being in hobart for our wedding anniversary we went along hoping for a nice meal but were actually planning our special night out for the following night at another restaurant (remi de Provence). Well this was so delicious it turned out to be the highlight of our 3 days in Hobart, with the highly regarded remi de Provence not even coming close to the taste, service or atmosphere of piccolos. The crab ravioli was to die for. Thanks for a wonderful night!
