“Clean and Comfortable, close to everything”

The Waratah is a good place to stay. It's walking distance to town, has free WiFi, and friendly staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable, albeit a little outdated in terms of decor, this should not put you off. The breakfast is continental and there is free parking in the bottleshop behind if you need it. The meals in the pub below were also of high quality.

My friend and I stayed here on New Year's Eve. I was pleasantly surprised! The room we stayed in was huge and very clean. It was an easy downhill 15 minute walk to the wharf, or 10 minutes to the main shopping area. The price is very good and includes wifi, simple breakfast and parking. The staff were also really friendly and helpful. If you are not super fussy then this place is a great choice! I wouldn't be surprised if I'm back at some stage!

We were disappointed with the Waratah. The people were friendly, there was free parking, and free internet but the room needed updating and the breakfast was very basic--do it yourself toast, cereal, and juice.

Good value hotel very close to the city. 5 min walk into town and about 10 min walk to the water front. Wifi in the rooms was handy and of a good speed. Continental breakfast was a good starter to the day with toast/cereal and a cuppa. Also had a great eye fillet steak in the restaurant on the Friday night - was beautiful. Was woken up quite early on the saturday by car noises from the main road below but I am a fairly light sleeper so that wasn't a major drama. Staff downstairs were very friendly and knowledgable. Would stay here again for sure and would recommend to anyone who wants clean and comfortable accom at an affordable price.

Great place as a base to explore Hobart. Walking distance to the city, North Hobart strip and waterfront. The staff are friendly and helpful..nothing is to much trouble. There is internet and free car parking. The rooms are basic but comfortable which is all you really need. They have a dining room with really wonderful food and the price is affordable. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants comfortable accomadation at a good price, and is central to all that Hobart and its surrounds has to offer.

It's a hotel above a pub which has live music (which I didn't hear). It's about 10-15 mins walk from the bus mall and has nice views from the top floor.

I booked a single room, but the friendly staffer who checked me in upgraded me for free to a quiet triple room on the top floor. The room lacked for nothing I wanted, except for tea and coffee which is available in a separate "tea room". However, there is a working fridge, electric blanket and good central heating. The double bed was comfortable and I had no complaints about anything else. There is also free internet in each room, which is quite fast by hotel standards.

There is free continental breakfast (basic but OK) and there are supermarkets and grog shops within walking distance. Car parking is also available.

So, I was thoroughly pleased with my stay and will stay here again. You just can't do better in central Hobart.

Room Tip: Stay away from the front of the hotel which faces a main road.

Stayed here with a group of 9 and it was very good for the cost. Cheap, clean and friendly.
It is a few minutes walk up the hill, so don't stay here if you want to be in the thick of it.

The rooms looking out onto Murray street can be noisy, as it is a main road and it is surprisingly busy for Hobart. This did disturb me even with ear plugs but i am an extremely light sleeper. Request a room on the other side. I wasn't disturbed too much by the 24 hr bottle shop underneath, it was mainly the road.

I booked a double room and was given a double with single. It was large, clean and had a great hot shower. The rooms have decent radiators and mine had an electric blanket which is a must for Hobart in the winter.

Brekkie was basic continental fare, however you would probably want to walk down the hill to the wharf.

It is worth noting that we arrived on a Sunday and all of the best restaurants were closed. Bear this in mind for your travel as it is a big disappointment. We ate at Meurs on the wharf which was good enough, however nothing like Ethos or the other many brilliant food places in Hobart.

Room Tip: Get room away from Murray street.
