“Great service”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

Found this place early on a Saturday evening when most other places nearby weren't open for "fine dining" or were booked out. Wait staff were happy to take us with no booking, and their excellent service continued throughout. Food was really nice, maybe just missed the mark totally at times, but was well presented with some good combinations and flavours. Chips were superb as well as the bread. Will go back again soon to try other things on the menu as well as desserts which we couldn't manage.

“A quieter alternative”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

I was staying in the apartment above this place and breakfast was included, so naturally I had my breakfast here every day. The young girl did a good job of remembering that I had a long black coffee as soon as I sat down and would organise this every day without me having to do much more than agree that was what I wanted

However, for some reason, even though I always ordered poached eggs, on the third day when I asked for poached eggs on rye bread with mushrooms, I got scrambled eggs!! I couldn't be bothered sending them back so I tried to eat them but they were really not nice. Way too greasy and loaded with too much pepper for my taste. But it was included in price of room so I didn't mind much about leaving it uneaten

There was one other glitch - on the first day I ordered the baked beans only to be dismayed to find they were "home made" variety and had meat (chorizo) in them! The menu clearly should have said this

Other than that the breakfast was "ok" - it's a good job it was part of the room package because I probably wouldn't have come here after the first days disaster with the beans and then getting a wrong order on the third day. Coffee was ok

Apart from not telling me about the meat in the beans and the mix up with the eggs, the service was good with the pleasant wait staff happily letting me go in and sit down before they were officially open for the day.

I did also stop off here a few times in the evening, to have a quick, quiet beer before getting stuck into more work. It is definitely quieter (and much more pleasant a place to be) than the jam packed area further into Salamanca but as for breakfast, wasn't really fussed and most likely would not have chosen to eat here if it hadn't been part of the package

“Great breakfast and snacks”
Reviewed February 21, 2014

Great place to chill out in Hobart. Great selection of breakfasts, lunch and snacks. Spent quite a few afternoons sat outside with a beer and the potato wedges. Very friendly staff. In a great location to spend a hour or two people watching.

“Nice alternative!”
Reviewed February 21, 2014 via mobile

Wandering around in the area my partner and I were not so keen to have dinner with the after work drinks crowd that filled most of this strip. We chose quarry as it was quiet and classy in appearance....we were not dissapointed. Cocktails were a great start and the food was up there with anything we have had in Tassie. The great food was accompanied by great service and finished with a very reasonable bill! Highly reccomend this place!!

“Fantastic wine bar and restaurant - really funky”
Reviewed January 28, 2014

You can tell someone with really good taste and a flair for the unusual was involved with the fit-out of this funky wine bar and restaurant. It's in an old stone building with some quirky additions that you need to see ... ask about the gents loo ;-) The food is reasonably priced (about $25 for an evening main course) and although the menu is not huge, there is a good selection of dishes across the board that are tasty and well put together. There is a huge selection of beer on tap and more in bottles (both local and foreign), and the wine list is equally extensive. Couple that with friendly, helpful staff and what more can you ask? I highly recommend a visit to The Quarry.
