We visited here for lunch one day, and then a couple of days letter for breakfast.

Lunch was great, I had the hot smoked salmon foccacia which was amazing, the tapas looked great too.

Had the eggs benedict for breakfast, and it serious was the best. Eggs cooked to perfection, bacon nice and crispy, and just the right amount of hollandaise....

The coffee is quite strong...didn't really need the extra shot I ordered!

We had the chefs table deal for $65 for two which was ample in size and exceptional in quality. Good fun, unpretentious service and a great wine list. We'll be back.

It's been a while since we had been to Rain Check for dinner (we are massive breakie fans). We weren't disappointed the food was some of the best we've had in Hobart, started with a tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad which was beautiful simplicity, then a plate of crispy school prawns with chilli and garlic the crunchy texture made this dish, my partner and I love confit duck and this was the next course and was the best example of this we've ever had the final course was a creme brûlée and it was perfect and all this for $65 for 2 people (cheaper than a pub meal). The service was verygood one small mistake of a wrong beer this being fixed very quickly and without issue. Thanks Rain Check we'll be back real soon:)

We met up with some old friends in Hobart, and allowed them to choose the location for dinner and they chose here as being one of their favourites. We were not disappointed; we were very happy that we trusted our friends' local knowledge. We were looking for a more substantial feed so we settled on two of the Chef's Table set menu between the four of us. It started well with a great mushroom soup and it just got better. I was happy to see that they use their location in Hobart to best advantage by offering fresh local fish, although we were disappointed that flathead was not available but the substitute was still local, still fresh and still great. We supplemented our meal with a fantastic Piper's Brook Chardonnay, a great local Tassie wine. The staff are great, they were happy to give us a table that was reserved for later and we were happy to be finished in two hours although they weren't hurrying us along at all. It is a really nicely decorated place, relaxed and comfortable, and staff completing the atmosphere with their good attitude and helpfulness. At the end of the meal we were a little surprised to get a bill totalling $275 but then again we had two Chef's Table at $65 each and three bottles of good wine at $38 each so all in all we were happy with the value. So now, unfortunately or otherwise, after visiting this place there is one more string pulling us back to Tassie. We will go there again and I definitely recommend the Raincheck Lounge in North Hobart to everybody.

We had high expectations after reading reviews on Tripadvisor, but were very, very disappointed.

When we walked in, it was like experiencing some trendy cafe in Melbourne. Good atmosphere and cool music was playing in the background.

Staff

Two out of the three waitress staff seemed like they really didn't want to be there. They didn't smile and there was no "thank you" when taking our order.

Food

The staff were quick to take our order. The person who delivered the drinks smiled and was friendly (she also made the coffee too) - she did say "thanks".

* Chicken, Brie, avocado foccacia. When I opened up the foccacia I was shocked. The chicken was very poor quality and was burned black (see photo). There was a smidgen of green on it; certainly not more than two teaspoons of avocado. I ate the surrounding salad and a bit of the bread.

* Lemonade. They got it wrong, we asked for (and pointed out) the natural lemonade in the window and they gave us Sprite instead.

Overall

Would we come back? Never.
