Fantastic location with great views!

Service was poor, at best. Some appliances didn't even work and the cleaners never did a proper clean.

The rooms are damp and staff have a very poor attitude which is a shame because this place really has some great potential.

Overall, we were glad to leave and I wouldn't recommend this apartment to anyone.

As we pride ourselves on our high standards of service and cleanliness we are very disappointed to read your review of your recent stay with us, particularly as your experience was so different to that of all of our recent guests posting on Trip Advisor. It is always our preference to fix problems when they happen rather than have to apologise for them later. Since we are not supplied with names of guests we have to guess who has posted when we need to get to the bottom of issues guests may have had while staying with us. Over the Christmas/New Year period we found a number of apartments had more people staying in them than had been booked due to the yacht race. This lead to overcrowding in some of the apartments making daily services challenging in some cases but our housekeeping staff did the best they could to provide excellent services in all apartments everyday. On New Years Day a number of apartments had Do Not Disturb signs up all day and as we take this very seriously the housekeeping staff will not even knock on a door displaying this sign. The IXL Penthouses are fitted with combined washer/dryers which can be complex to use. We would have been delighted to show you how to use it if you had asked.

This is our 12th year in a row to be in Hobart for New Year and over the years we have stayed at or seen various accomodation. This is a step up again to previous apartments.
Whilst we would not usually cook this apartment makes you think that you could should you choose to do so. A well equipped kitchen complete with olive oil, cling film and foil. Not to mention decent knives with a full mundial knife block and should you feel adventurous a rolling pin and pie dish.
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment in the IXL complex, with a spacious downstairs area including the gourmet kitchen, meals area and lounge. There are actally two bedrooms on the upstairs mezzanine but which are not private from each other, hence being marketed as a one bedroom. So whilst this may not suit two couples it could be highly suitable for a family with a young child.
For the two of us it feels spacious and luxurious. Nice toiletries and good towels and robes top off this feeling.
Oddly the discordant note is that no movies are available even as pay per view. A DVD player is provided so maybe bring your own.
Location wise this is perfect very close to constitution dock and a post prandial walk from The Taste festival.

Thank you for your very detailed review of your stay in one of our IXL 1 Bedroom Executive apartments. We have 3 of these apartments and they are all a little different as can be seen on our website where we have floor plans and photos. Two are loft style, one of which you stayed in. One of these has one bedroom and one, as you say, has two bedrooms. The third 1 bedroom we have is a single level apartment so different again. If there is a specific style you would like please request at time of booking and we will accommodate your request based on availability. We do have DVD players in all of apartments and an extensive library of DVDs to borrow in the office.

We recently stayed for two nights in an IXL penthouse apartment and it was beautiful.

New Years eve was spectacular and our visit coincided with the Taste festival and the Sydney to Hobart yachts were still moored at Constitution Dock.

The apartment was beautifully appointed, clean and spacious. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

Would love to come back and do it all again next year.

We hope you have booked again for next year! There is no better apartment in Hobart to watch the Sydney to Hobart race and the fireworks on NYE!

The Admiral's Suite is fantastic for entertaining. My husband, baby and I shared the suite with my parents and there was plenty of room for everyone. There is a very large master room with ensuite and a decent sized second bedroom, which we had set up with a second king sized bed.

The main bathroom has a shower and bath, ideal for bathing the little one. The kitchen is fully equipped, and even has a coffee machine. The is also a large private courtyard/balcony with an outdoor dining table and two sun beds.

Only complaint would be the street lighting which shines into the master bedroom during the night.

A great place to stay if you're spending a few nights in Hobart and want the convenience of a fully self-contained apartment!

The Admiral's Suite is a very special apartment and located in one of Hobart's oldest buildings. The renovation is spectacular and the location is unsurpassed with views across to the fishing docks and a short stroll from Salamanca.

A group of 8 of us stayed in two of the their IXL Penthouse Suites during our trip to Hobart. The apartment was spacious and modern with decent view of the bay area (although one was better than the other). Would recommend for families or large groups. The power went out for a few hours one afternoon in one of the apartments and it was a bit of a process to get it sorted (a lot of running around for the electrician) however we were offered a free night’s stay for our trouble which was appreciated.

From memory most of the kitchen utensils were provided. Only minor issue was water going everywhere in the bathrooms as there wasn’t a door for the shower and only a small glass panel for the bath.

Good location – walking distance to Salamaca which has plenty of restaurants and shops.

Overall had an enjoyable stay and would go back!

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. Very glad to hear that we'll be welcoming you back! Sometimes it can be a challenge to get tradesmen in to fix things on weekends on the rare occasions that things need a fix during a stay. We do appreciate your patience as we got one of our on call regular maintenance people in to get the power back on for you as quickly as possible. This is certainly not a regular occurrence as our apartments are very regularly maintained to a high standard.

We stayed in the huge Dockside Penthouse (Brook St) for 4 days recently with all the family. It was a fabulous location with probably the best views in Hobart. The apartment was spacious with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 living areas. 2 Parking spots (although VERY difficult tight parking).
Was also great value for around $600 pn as we would have needed 3-4 hotel rooms elsewhere so couldn't have afforded this location, would highly recommend for a family group. A few issues, nothing major but will note them in case they can be improved;
1. A very small rubbish bin, serviced 6 days a week. 1 family would have filled it in a day but with 3 families and 2 babies in nappies, we had bags of rubbish and had to take it out ourselves, especially on the Sunday.
2. This sounds trivial - but no handles on the kitchen cupboards! Really annoying, had to kind of open it with your foot and we all broke nails! Also no spatula in the room, we had to go buy one to make bacon and eggs.
3. The shower in the main bathroom flooded the floor. We asked for extra towels to mop it up and received a very curt reply from housekeeping that they'd never seen that before so it must have been something we did. Yes, we used the shower! There was no seal under the shower door and the floor was flat so the water ran straight out.
4. Heating/cooling - the smallest of the downstairs double bedrooms was very hot and stuffy - we couldn't shut the door so lucky it was family and we didn't need privacy, the 2nd double bedroom downstairs wasn't much better. But the room with 2 single beds was freezing cold as there seemed to be some kind of draught.
5. Three legged coffee tables - not very child friendly as it topples over very easily and could easily cause injury to babies/toddlers just starting to stand.
6. Take your own portable cot if you need it - they are very old cheap ones.
But overall, if traveling in a family group we'd stay here again as the location was great value for money. Would be nicer if the downstairs bathrooms were updated to the style of the upstairs one, which was lovely. With a few fairly minor improvements this could be 5*.
Reservations and check in/out were all very friendly and helpful (although not on site - which wasn't a problem for us).

My friend and I spent a long weekend in the IXL apartments and it was great with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There was plenty of room with a large kitchen, dining lounge area. The balcony was great as well.Everything was super clean and my friend loved the heated towel rails!
Only a small complaint but heavier window coverings would make for a longer sleep in. Very central and an easy walk to Salamanca. Breakfast at Jam Packed in the Henry Jones atrium area was a must each morning.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay in an IXL Executive apartment. They are great, spacious apartments. The best views in that building can be had from the penthouses on the 5th floor.
