We had a working lunch booked in their back room. It was well arranged for 10 people. The menu was well priced with specials being a real standout. We were well looked after by their fantastic staff. Would be a shame not to visit here.

Great local - bit pricey for a family to get fish and chips but very good regardless. Great for a dinner for two or with adult friends. Awesome thai fish cakes - spongy and closer to thai style than most Aussie sellers.

Went 2 years ago and loved it so made a point of going back this trip to Hobart. We went for dinner on Good Friday. Served by a young chatty, very pleasant waitress. We had a chilli and garlic prawn skewer to start with and shared the crumbed fish of the day and calamari for our mains. Food was fresh and tasted great. The restaurant is small and gets really busy so it's worth booking and they also do take away. It's pricey compared to your average local fish and chips but worth it as the food has lifted the bar for fish and chips.

Came here last November with a group and had such a great meal and service that on my second visit to Hobart I made sure to come again. Would've liked the raspberry sorbet a little more sour to contrast with the richness (and deliciousnness) of the amazingly delicate leatherwood honey panna cotta, but my main of pan-fried salmon with miso sauce was yummy. Definitely needed the spoon to finish off the sauce. The older waitress was chatty and friendly. I'd definitely come back again.

Flathead has been known for some time as a good seafood restaurant in Hobart. And they are. But oh my goodness, I will never go there again. On repeated visits (always hoping the last time was just an aberation), I found that an older waitress (is she the owner?) was just beyond rude. Was I troubling her by wanting to eat there? Apparently. Such an unpleasant manner; she made it obvious that we were somehow not worth her bothering with. I suggest one of the pleasant seafood restaurants at the wharf instead.
