We drove up to Mt Wellington the day we touched down in Hobart as the weather was fine and we had been told weather is everything when visiting Wellington, and they were right!
It was a fine sunny day but by the time we drove to the top it was blowing a gale and freezing (okay I had just got off a flight from QLD but I was dressed for the cold!) that I could live with (just!) because the views were superb, you could see for miles. There is a very nice shelter there with all sorts of information about what you are looking at, and there are loos but there is no cafe so if you want a warming beverage you are out of luck.
We were delighted we went when we did because our next days were not so good, weatherise and the top of Mt Wellington was in the clouds. So pick a good day to go up!
