A really interesting drive up and around to the top, watching the vegetation change dramatically, We went up late in the afternoon - possibly not such a good move in August. The wind and the cold nearly blew our eyeballs away. It was hard to see anything out in the wind and the viewing platform had been locked by then. (Not sure when it's open.) Well worth going up, though, and then, staying at Lenna's in Hobart, we had a view of the peak and could watch the clouds/snow come and go.
