We visited this restaurant transiting between Snellings view on the north side of the island and Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo island. The Marron (which are large freshwater crawfish) were fresh and excellent. The people who run the place were very nice and provided us with insight into their Marron farming operation. A great place for a nice meal!

had the marron entree and then the marron platter. they were good although perhaps a tad expensive considering the portion sizes, however they are like crayfish so we expected to pay a bit more. fresh and cooked marron were available to buy and the wine tasting was fun just next door. worth a visit if you like seafood.

We visited the marrons in their tanks in the shed. Then we tasted the wines (very good reds) and we bought a dozen. Then we had the seafood platter for lunch with some sauvignon blanc, washed down with some coffees to finish. It's not full table service (you order at the bar) but the staff were very friendly and helpful. The whole experience was very pleasant and I'd recommend it to others.

However, having never eaten marron before, I did think it was a bit bland in flavour, not as tasty as a prawn or a bug (a bug is a local lobster if you are not from Australia). The restaurant serves the marron with some of their locally made sauces which makes it a tasty meal, but the tastiness seemed to be coming more from the sauces not the marrons. You can buy the sauces in bottles to take away if you enjoy them. But having said that, I'd still say to order at least one marron dish to try for yourself. I'd rather have tried a marron and found it a bit bland than never tried a marron!

We could have so easily missed this little gem. Its about 10km down a dirt road off the main highway to Parndana from west side of island but it is so worth the trip. You must order the seafood platter and then go to the viewing area to see the live marron (fresh water crayfish). Beautiful food, wine in a gorgeous setting. A great experience!

This place is definitely worth visiting if you like crustaceans. The restaurant is very pleasant and provides you with an opportunity to try the delicacy that marron is. If you'd prefer to cook them yourself then you'll have the opportunity to buy some live marrons. They also serve and sell delicious home made sauces and decent wines.
