“Wow!!!”

It is a bit of a drive as you leave the airport and when you reach the unpaved road you may begin to wonder but never fear. Arriving at the lodge is an experience in itself. The staff are extremely attentive and the view is overpowering. The walk to the room is interesting depending on where your room is.... The rooms themselves are beautiful and the views of the Southern Ocean are spectacular---there is nothing between you and the antarctic! Sleeping was most excellent. Showering while viewing the ocean was terrific. Food is excellent. Tour provided by SOL was excellent (Kangas, koalas and remarkable rocks). PS. Hello and thanks again Helen!!!

My husband arranged a surprise trip for me for my birthday and I have never been more pleasantly surprised in my life. This place is absolutely amazing. Views, food, architecture and finishes, staff attention and service. Everything is world class and I couldn't fault anything. The attention to detail is outstanding in every aspect. The Lodge have suggestions on various local tours that you can do as part of your stay. We chose to stay and enjoy the beautiful surroundings at the lodge but other guests who did the tours said they were great. The meals are all local produce and just beautiful and the wine matching and selection was great also. I would definitely recommend this to anyone for something very special. You won't regret it!!!

This is the most beautiful resort, monsoon showers with floor to ceiling windows looking directly at the azure blues of the Southern Ocean. Remote control blinds to open at Daybreak and here the Ocean pound the rocks. A sunken sitting room to sit and take in the ocean, while reading about the many shipwrecks that didnt make it to Kangaroo Island. The produce is outstanding. The Open, huge Lounge area elevated on the cliff face but built into the rock to just sit and stare out to sea with a long G&T. This is divine, beautiful, idyllic!

Room Tip: Only 21 rooms all look out to sea - higher numbers are closer to Amenities if you have trouble walki...

If you are questioning whether the price is worth it, question no more. My partner and I stayed here to celebrate our first anniversary and were so impressed. It is an absolutely beautiful location and the staff make the stay completely effortless. They arrange things for you to do (if you please) or you are welcome to sit back and enjoy the views and serenity of the property. We were there for only a weekend and my partner said he felt that we had been gone for at least one week. Food was outstanding and they were able to cater to my somewhat complicated dietary needs. I can't say enough positives. You won't regret spending time at SOL!

I have never written on Tripadvisor before, but just had to after staying here this last weekend. Southern Ocean Lodge is easily the best place that we have ever stayed in. As soon as you walk in you are overwhelmed by the incredibly vast open space of the lounge / dining room. And the views!! The service was 110%. Never felt awkward in asking for any favours from the staff there. They were more than helpful to assist with any request we had.
The rooms were beautiful also. Very nice to be greeted with some freshly baked lamingtons when we arrived! The heated bathroom floor was a nice touch too. Great views from there as well.
The food was excellent - such a treat to have a different menu every day. You can grab a drink or make yourself a cocktail from the bar, any time of day. And if you'd rather a staff member make you one, they are more than willing to do so.
There are lots of activities to do whilst there, and they make suggestions of how you may like to fill your days. It is all up to you. Whatever you want to do, they will accommodate.
I feel homesick for the place! I've never said anything like that before.
Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: I don't think anyone could be upset with whatever room they booked, only that the ones further f...

We booked a family suite and it was Devine. The attention to detail was not lost on us and we were most impressed. The room was beautifully appointed and the architecture of the whole lodge was simply superb. The forethought amazing.
The very impressive staff, day trips, all inclusive meals and drinks couldn't be faulted.
I don't think it would matter what the weather was doing, the lodge would be beautiful anytime!

Our stay was early October and we enjoyed the day trips to see the Seals, Koalas and Sea Lions along with the lighthouse and national park?

We stayed three nights and that was a lovely length of time, any longer and your clothes won't fit! Really sad to leave, our stay was relaxing and luxurious.
SOL is six star - unlike others who make that claim, this really is! Congratulations to the owners and their staff.

Room Tip: I do not think there would be a bad room! Views and appointments world class and won't disappoin...

We just spent three nights a SOL and it was heaven on earth. This is the place for total relaxation where everything is taken care of for you. I could have sat in the great room all day just staring out at the views. The SOL staff was very helpful and friendly and the food was excellent! I can't wait to go back one day.
