We were originally booked on the Breakaways tour, but after seeing some photos of the Painted Desert, at the Underground B & B, we changed to this tour. It was a full day tour, crossing the dog fence, then on to see the Moon Plain where no vegetation grows. There is nothing but scattered rocks..."moon rocks", silica rocks which shine in the sunlight and remnants of a petrified forest. The Painted Desert is a photographers paradise, just wow! There is a slight climb to view the hills from the top, but the walk is not difficult. There was no rush to move on, Ken stopped whenever I wanted to get out and take photos. Morning tea, lunch and good company provided by Ken.

We booked a full day tour to visit the Painted Desert area and while it wasn't cheap it was good value for money. Not only did we see some wonderful scenery but were treated to a day of our guide and driver's knowledge, experience and great sense of humour. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Ken and would recommend this tour to others.

This is my first ever poor review, but the tour was seriously marred by constant belittling comments about Aboriginal people. Scoffing about permits required to enter Aboriginal land and sacred sites, left me feeling very disappointed that I took this tour. It was unfortunate, because the experience of seeing how underground dwellings were made, commentary about mining and the scenery itself was all great. It was just the oft repeated denigration of human beings that left me cold.

hi ,

The responses given to the guests was factual they were in response to the questions asked by them, if they do not like my answers given do not bother to ask , I have lived in the district for 30 years and I understand most of the problems , I understand that a lot of urban dwellers do not know what happens here and don't like to hear the truth.

Regards Ken

We had a super interesting 4 hour tour experiencing all you should see in Coober Pedy. Kenn loves his home area and his own experience in the opal industry, his involvement in local developments and his many local friends make him the perfect personnalized guide.
We are also grateful to Desiree Jones from the Coober Pedy Council Information Center, who helped as in many ways and to locate Kenn from ANDO tours.
Kenn and his wife Ana are also running an Underground B&B, we visted and it looked great to us.

I booked the tour to lake Eyer, but the road was closed because of rain.
The host took us to Break aways even the road was tough.
We enjoyed the tour.

We had a wonderful time, the B&B was an experience to say the least. The host and hostes were very nice poeple and nothing was to much for them.
The tour to the painted mountains was special too with a very nice lunch.
We recommend this a 100%.
Worthwhile to do!
The van Vijfeijken family,

We were very fortunate to stay with Ken and Ana at the Underground B&B (separate review there). We got a discount on the tour price since we stayed with them for a few days - a nice savings! Ken was a very knowledgeable host, he's lived in Coober Pedy for a long time and knows the place and the people inside and out. We learned all about underground home building in Coober Pedy - very interesting! - visited some local churches carved into the sandstone - very unique and worth a visit! We were off to the Breakaways, which are very beautiful! Ken was out with us explaining all of the history of the area. The tour was just us in Ken's truck so was very personalized. I'd recommend a guided tour over driving it yourself. If we did it ourselves we'd have missed going into one of his friends huge opal mines, missed seeing the deep holes they dig to sample for opals (these areas are fenced off since they lost a couple of unwary tourists down the holes...), missed the petrified wood from the bases of the huge trees on the moon plains and so much more! Ken was very friendly and a very interactive tour guide!

We had a great day with Ken travelling the Oodnadatta track at speeds we would never do ourselves! Very informative, good lunch, excellent scenery. It was a long drive but most enjoyable. So glad we did the trip!

Ken took us out to the painted Desert, this is an amazing tour-saw the Dog Fence, frequent stops to note the geology-silica like rocks, ancient petrified wood rocks as well as the noting the vastness of the outback. We stopped for lunch at an outback station-just so far from anywhere-these places are so isolated. The painted Desert is great, the husband had a wonderful time taking photos and Ken was very patient-never did we feel that we were going to be rushed .We would do this tour again and any of the others Ken offers,he is a great guide. Thanks for a great day out!
