It was an amazing experience, staying at DowntoErth, Why isn't everyone coming here?? The hosts were warm and friendly, and the accomodation they supplied was just superb. Lots of nice homely touches, even a Teddy Bear on the bed!, There were places to relax inside and out, We enjoyed the wine Rose and Alex provided sitting outside in the balmy evening. Everything was perfect even the breakfast choices had something for each of us. Thank you for a great stay.

I stayed here in January this year, and feel bad that I haven't got round to posting my review till now.
The hosts are extremely accommodating, especially when we realised that we had made our booking on the wrong day, and were actually arriving in Cooberpedy a day earlier! luckily no-one else was booked in, and Rose had everything ready for us, with only a few hours notice.
This was a wonderful place to stay, an oasis of cool in the red desert. Our children loved the idea of "sleeping in a cave", and there is a little above ground pool in a covered area outside, which was just right for them to splash around in.
Everything is spotlessly clean, especially the bathroom, and there was lots of lovely little extra touches that really made it - homemade compote and real ground coffee for breakfast, and a little doo-hicky to put your mobile phone into to let you get reception underground. There was also a very interesting and entertaining video about opal mining in the area - We watched the whole series.

Just for information, as the rooms were not originally planned as B+B accommodation there is no cooking facilities or plumbing in the kitchenette area itself(obviously its difficult to run the service pipes through solid rock). Instead there is a BBQ/hot plate in the undercover area, and all the utensils/pans etc needed for cooking are supplied, and there is a plastic tub so you can wash the dishes in the laundry area. This worked out fine for us, and really is not an inconvenience at all.

The lounge area is large, as is the main bedroom. The second bedroom is smaller, with bunks, but perfect for children.
I would definitely recommend staying here.

Undercover parking, a super quiet, super dark bedroom, a comfortable lounge, a cute little kitchen and dining area and a much needed bath to soak some aches away. Add to that the complimentary bottle of wine and breakfast makes 'Down to Erth' a no-brainer for a return visit one day.

Many Thanks to Rose and Alex for their super service.

My wife and I stayed in August 2011.

We've not done a lot of B&Bs in the past, but this was a very good experience. The accommodation was large, very clean and well appointed and totally private. Although Rose and Alex were at hand if you needed them (we didn't), they were completely non-intrusive.

You could not go wrong staying here.

Imacculately clean, comfortable, quiet and private. Rose and Alex (hosts) are just two of the most friendliest / coperative and helpfull people we have had the priviledge to have come across in our vast travels on this continent. (exceptional out back hospitality) The best on our recent trip.

Room Tip: Book ASAP as excellent accommadation like this is so hard to attain

We were lucky enough to get a stay in this place. We wanted to experience underground accommodation and when we got there, we were immediately made to feel at home and the place was HUGE - like an underground palace - do not worry that you may get any sort of "closed-in" feeling - it was large and light-filled. The welcome extended to a tour and explanation of everything and a few tips on where to find and what to see - as well as chocolates and wine.
Rose and Alex were wonderful and friendly and after we had seen the other places available, this was for sure the best and I will treasure the pictures and experience for many years.
