stayed in this hostel for 2 nights, staff are friendly, arrived around 8pm and was greeted by Denise, who is a lovely lady, however id booked a room for my partner and i, they stuffed up on booking, allowing to turn a blind eye for my bf to sleep in the female dorm with me, but there were no beds when we went to our room, so she checked us into a room with 4 beds, the whole hostel stinks musty and like a gym, its gross, stains everywhere not modern at all, rooms were tiny, stuffy and smelly, everything feels damp! I don't think our beds had clean linen, there was no room to put our bags anywhere so had to use one bed for them, and share the top bunk. I'm used to staying in hostels but this was the worst so far, No air-conditioning which made it all worse, and a tiny fan which just circulates the hot sweaty air. First night harldy got any sleep as it was. We missed out on breakfast due to plans though Denise did offer. Toilets were dirty, People in the hostel were rude and love to stare at you as you walk past.. Second night was a little cooler as we had the window open - which leads into the common room, however people were in there making so much noise kept opening our curtains ended up with 2 hours light sleep. We managed to knock the price down as we really wern't happy, id say the only perk is that its close to the city centre, and bus station.. But yeah if you have standards of living and getting a good rest, i would not recomend until they knock the building down and start from scratch. It's nice and cheap but i wasn't even willing to pay the small charge.. Don't do it to yourselves!!

Basically if you can cope with bedbugs, a very basic level of cleanliness and manage to stay on the right side of the lady who runs the establishment, you'll have an experience that is on a level with the incredibly cheap price. Its not all bad, the pancakes are nice, the location is good, and Denise is keen to give travel advice. Just don't cross her, or expect YHA-style accommodation!

Room Tip: Check for bugs/clean sheets

Sunny’s is an interesting place! It has an excellent location right near the centre of town and the main bus station for transfer to/from the airport. It is also pretty cheap, think we paid $50 for 2 nights stay in a shared room.

The people we also very friendly, especially the affable Denise who made a point of greeting you by your first name from the go. The pancakes in the morning we great too, unlimited and very tasty.

However, it certainly wasn’t the cleanest or best decorated place in the world. And there was no aircon. The showers especially were an interesting experience, certainly not the cleanest. The carpets were threadbare and the beds had definitely seen better days.
However, it does what it says on the tin, and provides cheap, well located accommodation. If that’s what you’re looking for then Sunny’s is ideal…but fine accommodation it is not!

Never again. I would not recommend to anyone. It is dirty, showers are horrible. The only good thing is that is very close to CBD if there is any. I want to say that is close to centrum of Adelaide. Thats all.

I have travelled around the world and stayed in hundreds of hostels. I can honestly say this has to be the worst. It was dirty and uncomfortable. The inside of the building looked like it was falling apart. The rooms were damp and the smell disgusting. The shower room was disgusting and did not have a cubicle to change in. As for the free internet.......good luck if you can get on to the ‘one’ computer available. If this wasn’t bad enough the hostel was full of very strange people, we would often walk in on people talking to themselves. I got the impression the place was more of a refuge centre for the homeless/insane than a hostel.
