“Woeful.”
Reviewed November 12, 2013 via mobile

Took the wife and kids there for a birthday dinner on recommendation.
The experience was completely underwhelming.
Well overpriced for the offer.
Seafood best described as very old.
Sizzling steak was cold, gluggy and not remotely sizzling.
Pork ribs almost all bone. No meat
Special fried rice not as good as something you'd get from the frozen food aisle at the local supermarket.
Service non existent.
Could not have been more disappointed.
Head to Gouger Street!

“Hidden Gem”

Not evident from the street, Citi Zen Restaurant holds decor and great food worth searching out. We enjoyed a number of beautifully tasty chinese dishes with some nice selection of Adelaide's wine regions best wines. Would definitely go back for the quaint furniture and warm staff. We went on a saturday night without a booking and they managed to find us a table. Great service even thought they were very busy.

“Don't Be Fooled, Check Your Bill”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

VIsited on a Sunday morning and the food was very lackluster for some reason. Salt and pepper squid that was cold and tough, and a little too stingy on the salt.

We were very shocked when the bill came. A total of more than $300 for 7, and all we had were the typical food items. A quick calculation made us realised that they gave us a wrong total, with an excess of $80. Sent it back, and they returned the bill with the right amount but without a tinge of remorse. We hope this was a once-off genuine mistake, but it got us thinking about all our past expensive visits, the vague food prices, and if they have been doing the whole time to unsuspecting customers.

Whip out your mobile phones and do a quick calculation before paying for it.

If all else fails, there are other yum cha places in Adelaide.

“Our favourite Chinese Restaurant”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

We love Citi Zen. We eat here whenever we are in Adelaide and every meal is a pleasurable experience. The main dining area is large and can get noisy when busy and sometimes staff seem distracted by their earpiece devices, presumably wired back to the kitchen. They are our only negatives.

The food is delicious, the variety enormous - from traditional Chinese to the good old fashioned Western favourites, it's all there. Their fried rice is some of the tastiest around and the Yum Cha is also delicious.

Our latest meal was with friends, so we opted for the 'Splendid' banquet. At $50.00 per head it was well worth it. The food kept coming in generous serves and everything from dim sims to bug tails was included. We even had desert, not something we usually order when eating Chinese food.

They have an extensive wine list, function rooms for parties and the main dining room has an underfloor fish pond to entertain the kids. You can't miss the spectacular light fitting in the centre of the room, I love it!

Thank you to Amy and her staff for giving us this restaurant, in our mind one of the best in Adelaide.

“Carnation cream served in a tin says it all”
Reviewed May 25, 2013 via mobile

Bad service as not experienced waiting staff and felt very rushed with the yum cha. We were still waiting for another chair to be brought to the table when they started serving. Have tasted so much better. Very disappointing.
