“True Italian Food”
Reviewed November 5, 2013

We had a light dinner here on Melbourne Cup night - Pumpkin Risotto & King George Whiting, both excellent. Outdoor tables at restaurant were supposedly booked out, so we were initially seated inside (which was hot, lacked fans or air-conditioning!) but fortunately a table became available outside which we transferred to. So pleasant sitting in the open air, eating al fresco with a nice glass of wine. Would recommend to couples.

“Significantly improved”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

Recently, I had lunch at Rigoni's, after not having visited for some time.

I was pleasantly surprised: the food, ambience and service were pleasant, and I thought this is a good place for a business lunch.

The food has an Italian focus- I had an interesting squid ink pasta dish, which was quite tasty.

If you're in the area, and fell like a tasty lunch, give Rigoni's a try!

“What a Gem!!”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

Great food, service and atmosphere. Food was so flavoursome. Will return for sure, in fact in a couple of days!! The pumpkin bruschetta was devine as was the calamari. Sadly, this venue is not open on the weekends.

Food and wine excellent and waiting staff most helpful, but kitchen was a little slow and noise level a problem.

“Lipstick on a pig”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

What can one say? As an Adelaide alumni I had hoped for and expected better. Fiendishly bad service coupled with sub-standard food. Lipstick on a pig indeed. Anemic oysters - strips of cheap bacon with an adolescent dose of HP sauce. If Patrick was at the table he would be lucky to survive his namesake's dish (haha, pun intended). Beware the ravioli, it's absolutely appalling. Whitefish filling at least thrice-cooked to remove all possible flavour and moisture, the salmon roe expertly deflated to resemble 5-day-old party balloons, all lavishly over-seasoned to disguise the perfect crime.

But really, the outrageously arrogant, dismissive and downright rude service took the cake. We left before eating ours, and won't be back.

Touché Signor Rigoni, you win this round.
