Having been in Adelaide almost a year and trying a number of places around Rigoni's on Leigh Street we thought it time to take a look. A lot of people we know had been and not one had a bad thing to say about the place.
We decided to go for the last night of family visiting from the UK and were not disappointed.

On arrival we were quickly shown our reserved table, something that I encourage you to do as it is always busy. The waiter was extremely friendly and bouncing when her read with enthusiasm the specials they had on that night. The waiters seemed to have an intense knowledge of the menu which I liked.

To start we just shared olives and ciabatta which was served warm with a light pesto dip. Then out of the party of 4 we all had different mains all of which when tried were as good as each other. I had a Pumpkin Gnocchi and MM a Tomato and Chorizo Risotto. Half way through each we swapped and shared the beautiful Italian Food. Only two of us had dessert - a Chocolate Pana cotta and Affogato, both which were sweet and tasty.

Overall it was a very good experience and probably one of the more fine dining places available in Adelaide due to its excellent service and great menu. Would we go back, yes but probably more as a place to go for significant meals as it can be a little pricey.

Excellent Italian food and table service. The bill can add up quickly here though. Biggest issue is the carparking, there's not much of it around.

I have been looking forward to dining at Rigonis for a very long time after having so much great feedback from friends. The location in Leigh street was brilliant in terms of being easily accessible and buzzing with people having a great time. We will return to try out other dining spots in that precinct and consider it a great spot to bring interstate and overseas visitors. The decor is niether here nor there but the staff were proffessional and very attentive. Prices were reasonable. As for the food, the main courses were nothing spectacular- presentation was good and the food does demonstrate some creativity and attention to quality, fresh ingredients. There were 3 of us and taste of each main course was ordinary. There were no comments from any of us about the main courses being incredible, good or even tasty. That says a lot! We are not sure how they hold onto that brilliant reputation they have. We had a chicken breast which was slightly dry! a lamb rack which was almost blue as it was so raw! Some might like this but there was no suggestion the lamb would be almost raw and therefore no option to ask for medium or well cooked lamb which is more to my liking. My husband had fish of the day- barrumundi baked in paper on a bed of vegetable julliene, it looked beautiful and tasted fine until hubby got part way through it and found the fish was completely uncooked on the inside! - worst I have ever seen- seriously! We asked if this is the way the chef intended the fish to be cooked as we were baffled! They did offer him a replacement but he had lost his appetite. We were relieved they did not make a fuss about it. My hubby asked if they would offer us a free dessert instead and they seemed happy to oblige. The desserts were another story all together and did take it to the 'next level' YUM YUM YUM - perfection! we had a date cheese cake and chocolate panna cotta with lemon sorbet. The desserts were 10 out of 10. Will we go back? No! Would we reccomend it to others ? It is probably worth a try.

Rigoni's is a lovely Italian eat out. Both times I have frequented this sophisticated establishment, I have felt quite special to be amongst the white table clothed, silver service atmosphere dining ambience. Its nice to sit back, let the wine pour, and rub shoulders with the suits of Adelaide. Great location too, Leigh Street has a very mediterranean Europe, cobble street feel to it!
