Adelaide Oval is one of the best cricket grounds in the world. Unlike others it was built just for cricket and the stands were retained from almost a century ago in the manner of the time. Adelaide Oval was the scene of one of the ugliest matches of the Ashes series - the bodyline series. However the stands are now being rebuilt into a stadium so that the ground can host Australian football matches. It will be an excellent modern stadium for cricket and AFL but the feeling of the past has been lost in the process. The iconic scoreboard area has been retained and this gives us a glimpse of the past among the new buildings. Access from North Terrace - the tram and train stop within walking distance and buses pass by even closer. Despite the modernisation it is a must-see, especially for cricket and AFL fans
