“Business excellence”

Business trips are never 'fun' or 'relaxing' so finding a great hotel can really be the highlight. I want somewhere that helps me to relax at the end of a really packed day. This was a great place to stay. Front desk staff were really polite and helpful. The room was nice and clean, warmed up well with the aircon and bathroom had a deep tub which was nice. I ordered a room service dinner which came straight from the in-house restaurant. Best value ever!!! The Chifley Burger with wedges, can't go wrong there, it was great. Relaxed with Foxtel that evening ready for the next frantic day. Had breakfast in the morning and wait staff were very attentive as I was in a hurry. Would definitely recommend staying here - good all round service and quality.

We reserved a deluxe double room with full breakfast on the net while overseas and on arrival from the airport after a 13 hour overnight flight we were pleased our book-in was trouble-free and our paperwork already processed. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the lobby well appointed with ample comfortable seating. Our room was basic and small, but adequate for 1 night. There was space for our luggage in the bedroom but little shelf space in the ensuite. Our bed was comfortable with no traffic noise so we had a good sleep and were able to arrange a late check-out. The food at breakfast was average but the service poor. Our stay was during 'Adelaide Show week' and because the staff seemed to know everyone at breakfast and were very friendly it meant that we, and others, had poor service including serving our own tea and coffee. Perhaps extra staff could be rostered if the hotel is full. The location is good with easy access and car-parking ample. We would recommend this hotel for short stays.

We stayed at the Grand Chifley this past weekend. We needed a hotel not to far from Norwood where we were picking up our new car from Jarvis Ford. We were after a hotel that was cheap but without the nasty, which many can have. Upon arrival we had trouble finding a car park. Eventually found one out the back next to a truck that took up nearly two car parks. Check in was ok, though they assumed we were staying only one night. We had to remind them the booking was for two nights. We had asked for a quite room away from the lifts and stayed in room 510. The room was nice. My hubby said the views are very nice, as I am terrified of heights I did not venture onto the verandah, the sun in the morning is blinding and the block out curtains were full of holes and did not close properly. It had two double beds which we asked for. The beds themselves were comfy but the pillows were very hard. I ended up with a crook neck. The television was great, and the selection of channels was a novelty for us. Managed to watch a couple of movies I had been wanting to see. A television guide with the weeks shows on regular and foxtel would have been nice. The air conditioner instructions were no where to be found and the booklet about the hotel and room had fallen apart and was very confusing. We were told there was free internet but when we tried to use it we were asked to provide credit card details and then wanted to charge the credit card. So that was very disappointing. The bathroom was a nice size, though the shower in the bath was a problem. Hubby is over 6ft tall and had to basically sit in the bath to have a shower. The toilet is very close to the wall and a fair distance from the toilet paper. Which was difficult for our daughter but we just placed the loo paper closer on the bench. We asked the front desk staff where we could get a reasonably priced meal that wasn't in the hotel and they sent us to Fasta pasta which was very nice. The day we checked out the computer and eftpos system was slow and didn't want to work. When we got out to the car we found cigarette butts on the bonnet from someone on one of the floors smoking on the verandah. I found this disgusting and very off putting. Other than that it is a nice hotel and one of the few that can accommodate a family comfortably.

Room Tip: Car park is always crowded and a tight fit for larger cars.

We needed a hotel room within walking distance of our favourite restaurant in Adelaide and the Grand Chifley fitted the criteria. On arrival the free car park was almost full, with several parks too small for our car. The foyer is pleasantly furnished, with the restaurant to the right side of the entrance. Check in was trouble free and efficient and my request for a room on a higher floor was met.

We were on the 8 th floor with beautiful views of the hills and the east side of the city. Our room was nicely furnished. A large wall mounted TV (which was as easy to use as any TV you have at home) a comfy day lounge and a queen size bed all contained in a modestly sized room. The bed looked smaller than our queen size at home, but it was comfy - unlike the pillows! They were hard and flat. The bathroom was lovely, although the shower over the bath could pose problems if your we're unsteady on your feet. A non slip mat was provided and should be used if you are prone to slipping!

A spilt system air conditioner was available, but the instructions for use were no where to be found, despite a notice on the air conditioner stating we should look at the hotel compendium for these elusive instructions. Unfortunately we couldn't find the compendium, but managed to work out the settings in spite of this.

We enjoyed our brief stay at The Grand Chifley, especially as the price was right and the convenient location for us. For those who don't know Adelaide, it is a brisk 15 minute walk into the city, located directly across the road from the lovely South parklands with lots of play grounds for kids and areas for needing to walk off the indulgences of the previous night!

Room Tip: A room on the higher floors (4th floor and above) affords a beautiful view. Make sure you close your...

Stayed last week for three nights. Booked a package but when I asked for quiet non interconnecting room and a higher floor I was advised that all the standard rooms there have the connecting doors. Very pleasant young man upgraded me to a superior room on 8th floor which proved very quiet and most satisfactory. Room was a decent size and spotlessly clean. I found all the staff to be friendly and charming. The onsite parking was a major reason for my selection and was easy to manage although one night was full until fairly late when I was able to move my car in from the street. I'll stay here again.

Room Tip: I had 810 which is at the end of the floor and very quiet.

My family and I stayed here in June 2013 and first impressions were good. The staff were very friendly and more than helpful with our requests for storing our bags before and after checking in/out. The room was clean and big enough for what we needed and the bathroom was a good size too. However we did have four people in our room but housekeeping only left two towels. The balcony was dated and covered in bird dropping which was a bit disgusting and not to mention unhygienic. As the weather was beautiful when we stayed not being able to go out on the balcony because of two roosting pigeons and bird droppings was a bit disappointing too.
Noise from outside in the hallways was quite loud and there was a lot of noise from the rooms on either side of ours.
It was well situated though and we would be happy to stay here again if we were to visit Adelaide again.

We have previously stayed at this hotel and found it satisfactory. Our most recent stay has left us somewhat disappointed.
The room furnishings are up to date in appearance but show wear and tear and cleanliness is an issue in both the room and the hotel in general. In the corridor the same piece of litter remained for the duration of our three night stay, along with the dust around the edges of the carpet.
There was a ring around the bathtub which had not been cleaned adequately after the last occupants.
The bed was not comfortable and on the second day of our stay we returned to find the beds had not been made.
The room would have been more comfortable if easy chairs were provided as the only chairs were upright chairs at the bench. The lighting is also very dim.
Breakfast was adequate, nothing special and with minimal options. Some of the upholstered chairs in the restaurant were stained and the service varied.
On a positive note there is a full sized bath and a good safe. (NB: The safe is located high in the wardrobe and as it is difficult to see inside one could easily leave items behind.) Free parking is a bonus and we were able to walk to the CBD. The price would be reasonable if the maintenance and housekeeping were of an acceptable standard.
