Average hotel with nothing exciting to say. Car parking is terrible and got double parked in and not enough spaces. Stayed in an executive room but wasn't worth the extra money.

Dear Spyr0

Thankyou for staying at Grand Chifley Adelaide and providing a review.

We apologise that you were double parked in whilst staying with us as a result of the Gilles Street Primary School monthly market day. I have spoken with the organisers of this previously and again within the last week and advised that we are unhappy with their patrons using our private carpark and inconveniencing our guests. In future on market days, our staff will also be more vigilant in ensuring that people attending the market do not use our carparks and increased signage will be displayed advising that the carpark is for house guests only.

We genuinely believe our Superior and Executive Rooms are comparable to those of other similar hotels in Adelaide and around Australia and the view from these rooms surpass most other CBD properties.

We look forward to welcoming you back when next you stay.

Kind Regards

We stayed at this hotel for two nights before flying to Cairns. Honestly, we were very unimpressed by the hotel. This hotel is advertised like a Porsche but turns out to be a very cheap Hyundai in reality. Why? Our room contained very old furniture and a terrible, dirty balcony. The balcony door was very loose and due to the heavy wind, we had a hard time finding any sleep at all during our first night as the door kept banging. The Tv programme was also very limited with only a couple of channels. The tea bags must have been there for ages and the hotel information brochure was coming apart. To be fair, the bathroom was renovated and nice. What annoyed us most was the fact that our room did not get made up properly after the first night. You could tell that the cleaning lady did not spend more than 5 mins in our room. Wifi was not free, charges were ridiculous. The endorsed swimming pool was a joke: The hotel itself does not have one but instead sends you over to the Country Comfort hotel to use their motel-like, tiny pool. And yes, be aware of very thin walls and doors. During our second night, we were woken up by drunk guests at 2am...Overall, this is never a 4.5 star hotel. Rather, it deserves 3 stars. That is acknowledged by the hotels low rates. Lastly, I must say that the guys at reception were friendly.

Dear Omundi

Thankyou for your review on your recent stay. I am sorry you did not enjoy the comfort of our hotel.

I have passed on your comments regarding cleanliness to our housekeeping team and will undertake further spot checks to ensure our standards are maintained.
Likewise the comments regarding television and balcony door have also been forwarded to our maintenance department. Additional room compendiums are in the process of being updated and will be replaced once these are to hand.

I am pleased to advise that we have commenced a refurbishment of all rooms (Standard Room) on floors 1-5 of the hotel including replacement of the dark furniture, replacement of carpet to most rooms and all corridors, repainting of all rooms and corridors and associated electrical work and wall mounting of flat screen televisions and other additional items. This work is scheduled for completion by the end of January 2012.

We clearly state on all websites under the room description our standard rooms are 3.5 star rated whilst the overall hotel is 4.5 stars, as rated independantly by AAA Ratings. Our owners and management company have taken this conflicting rating level into consideration as part of our committment to updating those floors as described above and to allow future guests the surety of all rooms throughout the property being similar in design and furnishings.

Your comments have been most constructive and we look forward to welcoming back should you stay with us in future.

Kind Regards

Stayed at Grand Chifley for 2 nites. Overall a good experience - booked the rooms thru Wotif's "Mystery Hotel" deals.

First the positives:
- clean, good sized room
- comfy bed
- great location, opposite South Terrace parks & close to free tram to city

Negatives:
- thin walls. You hear everything the neighbours say & do
- loud balcony doors. Other reviewers have mentioned this & its true, the doors are noisy & sound like thunder
- service was disappointing. Rang reception as the room didn't have any hotel info or tourist guides. They said they'd get back to me. 2 hours later they ring, asking if I wanted the telephone listing. I explain what I'm after, they tell me they'll get back to me. THEY NEVER DID!

Thankyou for choosing to stay at Grand Chifley Adelaide and posting a review.

Your comments have been shared with our teams and a reminder given to ensure prompt responses to guest requests.

I apologise that the Hotel Directory was missing from your room. Replacement Compendiums have now been ordered to ensure all rooms have them and guests are informed as to the services, amenities and attractions available in the hotel and around Adelaide.

We look forward to welcoming you back when next you visit.

We stayed at the Chifley Grand in Adelaide for 3 nights. The rooms were quite spacious and the onsite parking was a real bonus. The breakfast was included in our package and the hotel does beautiful breakfasts. You are on the border of the town so not walking distance to the major areas, however their is a tram which is a few minutes walk which is free and takes you into the central area so no problem there. The balcony doors are a problem, we actually asked to be moved as we had young people on either side of us who were noisy and also going in and out all the time. The staff did move us not a problem so we were lucky after that.
Their housekeeping lets them down they did not do a good job of cleaning the rooms and all days we were there we came hom at 4pm and they still were not cleaned. When they came in they were their for about 2 minutes, however this was the only negative overall a pleasant stay.

Dear Roaming9

Thankyou for choosing to stay at Grand chifley Adelaide and writing a review. I am pleased your stay was enjoyable.

Your comments regarding housekeeping have been passed on to ensure our standards and guest expectations are being met. I apologise for the lateness of the room servicing whilst you were in house which I have been advised was due to the extreme busyness of the property with repeat days of very high numbers of arrivals and departures. This then impacted the servicing of stay over, multi night rooms, however this should not have resulted in corner cutting or lowering of our standards.

We look forward to welcoming you back when next you visit.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in October, found the foyer very spacious with comfy seating, our room was spacious, well lit with a comfy bed. While the bowl of fresh fruit was in our room, we mentioned to the reception staff that our bottle of white wine had not been delivered. On our return from visiting friends we found they had placed it in our fridge, so it was lovely and cold - I call that service. Our breakfasts were very good, with the buffet replenished all the time. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: The balcony rooms face east and west, in the summer time we would recommend you ask for an east facing room as it is much cooler in the rooms in the afternoons
