spent the weekend here looking for a relaxing shopping/eating/sightseeing holiday. I've stayed in a lot of crummy hotels,so I might sound biased when I say that this place is just perfect. I couldn't flaw a single thing. The room is tastefully contemporary and perfectly sized (executive deluxe on the 4th floor facing onto Frome). Whisper quiet with balcony door closed and the best bathroom I've ever seen (I just filled the kettle from the bath tap) but more to the point - If you want chintzy chandeliers and renaissance theme then go to the Sebel Playford, this place is understated and elegant, and remarkably clean! It was hard to believe anyone was in the room before me. The staff were just so lovely, even housekeeping went out of their way to help/greet whenever possible. We heeded previous reviews and went to nearby cafes for all our meals. For food and shopping, this hotel is near the best part of Rundle street in my opinion. More boutiques and interesting shops than the west end of Rundle. Foodwise I recommend "Alfresco" to the east, "Brunelli's" 1 block to the west and "San Giorgio's" next door. Nice cheap indonesian food at "spices" to the east too. And hold off on buying any mountain/trekking gear until you come here, there must have been half a dozen of these type-places within stones throw.I also recommend the tram ride to Glenelg on a warm day, just beautiful. The interesting old pillow-cut stone fronts to otherwise austere houses lining the tram line, and the delightful cafes, ice-creameries and a water feature designed to drench unsuspecting toddlers. A lovely holiday, I give the majestic 5 stars

After a twenty four hour journey from London the room was available on arrival at 9.30,that was superb. The room was well up to expectation with all that we wished for.
The electronic room key was required to access floors by the lift and was a little unreliable, but no problem. Filling the coffee pot from the bathroom wash basin(beautifully styled but not very practical) was by the glassful.
The interenet access charges were excessive and not used.
The hotel location was excellent for public transport and Rundle Mall and restuarants just round the corner.
Would certainly stay again.

We stayed at the Majestic between the 26th and 28th January and we chose it based on the positive reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. Our room was on the 5th floor, it was large, well equipped and had a lovely bathroom. The only minor downside was the view from our room which overlooked a multi storey carpark.

The location is excellent, practically situated on Rundle Mall and close to other attractions like Adelaide Zoo, the Botanic Gardens and the Adelaide Oval. It is also a short walk away from the tram terminal which takes you to Glenelg Beach and is well worth the visit

There is a restaurant called Culshaws next to the check in desk and as we arrived quite late on Australia Day we decided to go there for dinner. The food was good but the only complaint I would have is that we felt a bit rushed and we had been served our starter and main course within the space of 20 minutes.

Overall our stay at the Majestic was very pleasant and would have no hesitation in staying there agin.

We visited Adelaide in January 2009 to see the Tour Down Under cycling event. We did EXHAUSTIVE research online and settled on the Majestic Rooftop Garden Hotel. We stayed in a Superior Suite (Room 117) for 10 nights and paid $204 a night, which was excellent value. It’s a corner room with a fire exit on one side and, as there are no common walls to other rooms, it makes for a peaceful stay. The street below tended to be a bit noisy at times, but double glazing made a considerable difference.
The Majestic turned out to be a great choice, particularly for its central location near Rundle Street, the cleanliness and size of the apartment, and the standard of the fitout. Lovely bathroom and nice kitchen. The service was very obliging and cheerful. The valet parking for our hire car was worth the $23.50 a day. (It’s worth noting that the other parking provided for $14.50 a day is actually public parking in the street behind the hotel.)
The faults were few and minor: the television was outdated, and the remote control poorly functioning. The couch is a fold-out bed, and was not very comfortable to sit on.
We can highly recommend three nearby restaurants: Café Brunelli, Eros and Amalfi.
In summary, I doubt we could have done better.

This hotel was selected for us when we booked a package deal to attend the Tour Down Under. It was a great choice! Very new and modern - only 5 years old in a great location. Close to Rundle Mall, restaurants, cafes, pubs. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room we had (#315) had a king size bed, great bathroom where the bath opened into the main room by sliding Japanese style doors. Each room had a balcony for smokers or if you wanted a break from airconditioning. Couldn't fault it. Would recommend to anyone.
