“Great location, helpful staff, good rooms.”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

We stayed here twice in April, for one night in an Executive room before a trip to Kangaroo Island, and for three nights afterwards in a Spa Suite. The location is very good since it's in the centre of town close to Rundle Mall and the Museums, Arts Centre and Art Galleries of Northern Terrace, and its close to a large number of cafes and restaurants, particularly in Rundle St. Several main shopping areas are also close by. There is free WiFi in both the rooms and public areas, which worked well, and the option of Valet parking in the hotel, or self parking at the car park just across the road for slightly less (much less than the normal car park charges!) The hotel is modern (less than 10 years old) and it feels new, the beds were very comfortable, and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The executive room was large and clean, and very comfortable, and the bathroom had toilet, wash basin, and separate shower, and a Spa bath between the bathroom and bedroom, but which could be closed off by shutters for privacy. But the room was at the back of the hotel so it looked out onto the Multi-Storey car park mentioned above. Not very pleasant, but it didn't bother us - what does it matter and this is a city centre hotel after all!
For our second stay, the Spa Suite was enormous with a separate kitchen area and large sitting room completely separated from the bedroom and bathroom by double doors. TVs in both sitting room and bedroom. This room was at the front corner so the view was better, with a private open balcony.
We didn't experience any noise problem in either room.
This would be our first choice to stay next time we are in Adelaide.

Spent the Saturday night in Adelaide staying at this well located hotel. It was clean, well-priced and well managed. The room was quite spacious with a balcony. The staff were very courteous and prompt. The hotel is right next door to Rundle Street with a large range of restaurants and other nightlife including cinemas. In retrospect I probably would have put the car in the Wilson's car park across the road rather than valet parking (and saved a few bucks). But it was good value and I would stay here again.

Stayed for 5 nights in late April. Couldn't fault it. Excellent bed , fantastic walk in shower and a spacious room although we did take the executive king option which is a little larger than the standard room. The hotel isn't too large so everything works well and quickly. Parking arrangement really good and only $18 day - wish you could do that in Sydney or Melbourne.
We took the breakfast deal - it was OK but fairly bland after a day or two so I wouldn't bother next time.
Staff at the front desk are great, courteous and really helpful.
Many nearby restaurants around Rundle St and not that far to walk to Hutt St as well for perhaps some more up market options.
Proximity to shopping in Rundle St is good and North Terrace with the gallery and museum is nearby.
All in all we had a great stay and recommend the hotel highly.

We like a quiet night and the Majestic has continuous running air-con. We tried turning it off and opening the window - the aircon of the next door building was louder.
However the rooms are clean (mostly) and well appointed. Wifi works OK, but terribly slow at only just 1.5Mbps.
We found the level of dust mite high but this was fixed in our first room with a pillow vacuum we requested, not followed up in our second room though
We would have preferred a B&B, but these are few in Adelaide, seems to be a market opportunity.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the main road - maybe that is quieter.

We stayed at the Sebel for 2 nights and cancelled a third night after cigarette smoke kept filling our room. Tried the Majestic which was 20% cheaper than the Sebel and it was great. Large room with 42 inch tv + balcony. It had an excellent bathroom with large bath and huge separate shower with really good water pressure. Roof top seating area was a bonus and a nice place to take a bottle of wine and chill out. Very close to all the eateries near East Terrace. This place is better value for money than the Sebel. Also had free wifi. To access free wifi at the Sebel you had to go down to the lobby for 1 hour access. At the Majestic you had access from your bedroom.

Only stayed here one night, but found the hotel very pleasant, with huge, clean rooms, the location is great, there is an abundance of shops and restaurants just round the corner.

Unfortunately they tried to palm me off with a cheaper room to the one I booked. I booked an executive deluxe and they put me in a deluxe. To be honest there's not much difference. A nicer bathroom in the deluxe with a bath, but both had large walk in showers.

I went to ask what room they had put me in at reception and they admitted they had put me in the wrong room and changed it.

Parking is available at the rear of the hotel at $18 for 24 hours or $29 vallet, which I though was very reasonable.

Free wifi is a bonus although this did play up a bit, but the reception staff reset the wifi and all was good again.

I would have given this 5 stars, but it had to loose one for trying to palm me off with a cheaper room. Apart from that the hotel and staff were very nice.

If I'm ever back in Adelaide I would definately stay again.

Tip. Balconies are available by request, which if you are a smoker could be handy, but they are limited.

Room Tip: There are only six floors. I was on the 6th and it was very quiet.

My wife and I used this hotel as our base for a day long wine tour in the Barossa Valley and then took the Ghan Train to Alice Spring. We had a "superior" room which, while large enough, and had the advertised balcony, we could only see into the building next door which, because of a very good photographers angle on their photo, doesn't appear in their hotel photo! The bed was very comfortable for the two nights there. The shower facility is unique, as was the tub and shower set up, and the view through to the sleeping bed was interesting, if not the only one I've ever seen in many years of travel. There is free Internet access and computers downstairs by the Reception Desk with no time limit.

I did find the roof top garden to not be so much garden as it was blocked in by the surrounding buildings and the hotel's heating/cooling system tower.

Staff were very friendly and helpful!
