Adelaide Travellers Inn

Travellers Inn is a bad hostel. We couldn't sleep at nights because ppl were partying loudly on the balcony the whole night and smashed the doors all night long. There is no AC in the rooms and its really sticky and stinky. One bed in our room had bed bugs but the hostel staff simply ignored our complaints. They didnt even cleaned the rooms and on the beds were still the old bed sheets of our forerunners for over 1 week. The hostel staff is unfriendly.
The only good part of this hostel was that i got back my money when i wanted to leave earlier.

Room Tip: Dont go to the rooms on the balcony side because u wont be able to fall asleep. The rooms on the oth...

What a shame that I thought places like this did not exist. It is quite clearly one of the filthiest, most antisocial (I had drunkerds on the balcony next to my bedroom), over-priced and simply disappointing hostels I have ever been to. The kitchen was f-i-l-t-h-y and understocked with croquery and cutlery that was dirty also. The reception area has limited information about Adelaide but ironically heaps of info about getting out of Adelaide (perhaps away from this place). I was given very little information at the check-in, which looked very disorganised. Perhaps the reception-chick is getting free accomodation in exchange for duties at the check in desk. But that does not excuse leaving the reception for over an hour, free labour never equates to good customer service. The rooms are dated, mining-camp dongers have more features to them. No wifi, hello we are in 2012 not 1912. Only saving grace was that there is free use of their bikes and the location is very central - on Hutt Street you will not go hungry! Wont be staying here again and wont be confessing to any of my friends of being daft enough to stay here.

Room Tip: If booking a room with ensuite, ask for the end of the balcony, away from where other backpackers si...

The room was very very dirty (a lot of thing under the bed....some cockroach in the floor!)
The kitchen is ridiculous, small and dirty all time, no breakfast the morning!
The bathroom was very dirty all day, very dangerous with plug broken...
And i think you have a big problem with your doors!!!
The doors slaps all the night and you can't sleep!
Just Don't go

Stayed here for 1 week when I arrived in Adelaide. It's nothing special. Kitchen is a bit messy and the rooms are a bit unclean. All the taps in the bathroom were broken. Generally speaking, it's OK; nothing great, nothing terrible.

I stayed at this hostel for about 3 months and I must say I had the most amazing time. It was the best experience and I met the most amazing people. Yeah it's not in tip top condition but Gary the guy who runs the place is an absolute legend and looks out for everyone who lives there.
I would say this place mainly suits the younger generation like from ages 18-28. I had so much fun there and the room I had was very nice even though it was slightly over priced.
It's in a really good location and is close to the city without getting All traffic of the city centre.
The outside balcony was a nice place to go and relax or hang out with mates.
The majority of the staff at the hostel were very friendly and welcoming however one lady on front desk was very rude and miserable and looked as though she had never had a smile on her face. When it came to hospitality she had none. What many of the travelers and some permanent residents found was that this lady had a bad attitude towards anyone who didn't do what she said not what she had done where as setting an example was key. If she wanted to treat her paying customers this way she was going to get it back, just as much as she had given.
So I would definitely recommend this hostel to other backpackers regarding the lady be fired :)!!!!

Adelaide Traveller's Inn probably won't be a place I'll be coming back to any time soon - the room was dirty, and the hostel itself quite ramshackle. As a backpacker's, it's fine, as long as you expect the worst: walls are paper thin, as another review has mentioned, and the condition of the place itself wasn't the most impressive (the carpet was filthy, the showers disgusting, and the common area depressing). The bed itself was fine, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Miffy, the girl who works at the desk on the weekends, went out of her way to help and give advice on what to see, do, and try out in Adelaide.

My first impression was not very good but after a few days I just loved it here! It is an old hostel and not the cleanest but it is a good stay for backpackers. It is cheap, the rooms are not overcrowded and you find help whenever you need it. I met many great people and had some good nights on the big balcony. I even came back after my first stay as I had so much fun!
Thank you very much!! Love you Chloe!!! xxxx
