“Excellant Quality and variety of produce in a Central location”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

What an eye opener to see good quality food and veg at affordable prices!. When can they open a Central Market in Brisbane? The range of produce in the form of cheeses, meats, fish, breads olive oil, etc was impressive. So nice to walk around undercover and out of the heat.

“Adelaide Central Market - for whatever you want”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

The market is packed with food of all kinds from fresh to pre-prepared, many many divine cheeses, lots of fruit and veg... Shop for a week of fresh food, but take your own little trolley, back pack or bags and personal helper to carry your bags!
It is busiest on Friday nights and Saturday morning. The Adelaide Central Market has EVERYTHING you could want, especially when you allow a few hours to find it. It is surrounded by shops, food halls and restaurants, and flanked by the Gouger St restaurants, China Town, The Hilton Hotel and Victoria Square. If you just want some nice fruit or a meal in one of the food halls, it's great to just wander though, maybe taste some cheese or just take in the sights and smells. There are cafes for light meals, coffee, juice, cake... There is a fish hall for really fresh fish, several places for fine fresh meats, there are shops in the surrounding arcades that have clothes, random things, shoes, flowers, chocolate...

If you're going on a Saturday: for quality, go early in the trading day For cheaps, the market closes at three on the dot, most places are packing up by two so there are bargains of all the last fresh produce to be had from about 1pm.

The main market hall is open during the day Tuesday and Thursday, Friday until 9pm, and Saturday morning. Adjacent shops and food halls are open on the other days, but not all of the main market stalls. The pictures give an idea (taken on a Thursday just before close), but it's a big market. The only one I've seen similar is in Barcelona.

“Food sights, smells and sounds”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

The central market is a great place to visit whether you need to buy or just want to wander amidst the sights, smells and sounds of a busy food market. The range of food is as you would expect, with meat, fish, cheese, fruit and veg, breads and pastries, pasta, ready cooked meals, etc. We never go past Barossa Meats for the best Fritz in Adelaide. Also try The Mettwurst Shop for great mettwurst, which is similar to salami, but better! There are lots of cafes where you can have a coffee or a meal in between shopping. China town is just down the road, so allow two or three hours for your visit.

“Great Markets”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

What a great market. I have never seen so many cheeses in one place. Everything was available here and such fresh, inexpensive, good quality produce. Wishing I lived in Adelaide just so I could shop here! Well worth a visit.

“A must do when in adelaide!”
Reviewed January 31, 2013 via mobile

Fresh, beautiful, local produce available on your doorstep. You could spend hours here looking at the delicious foods on offer, my favourite being the abundance and variety of cheese available. A good spot to stop for lunch too.
