I have stayed at the Stamford Adelaide before and I only stay there when the Hilton is fully booked. In my opinion this isn't a 5 star hotel. 3-4 star would be closer to the mark.
Standard room - When it comes to the decor it's a step back to the 80's when you walk through the door (apart from the flat screen TV). The corkboard on the wall with restaurant offers is tacky (use a folder like most other hotels). The bath was slightly bigger than a baby bath. On the positive side the bed was quite comfortable.
On this trip I didn't try any of the food
I've always found the reception staff to be fantastic at the Stamford Adelaide with a warm greeting upon check-in and a just as warm farewell. I often found the concierge desk to be unattended and when dropping off your car keys you don't want to be waiting around for the concierge staff to attend to you. Although saying that the valet service was prompt.
The hotel is in a great location, across the road from the casino and the river. It's a little stale (not in a smell sense) and could do with a revamp. Certainly not the worst in Adelaide but far from the best.More
