This is a well appointed hotel right in the middle of Adelaide CBD. The room was large, with stylish furniture, a true king size bed, an elegant desk, good large flat screen TV, and many electrical plugs available to recharge electrical equipment.

The toilette was large with a separate bath and a see through glass which would allow guests to look into it from the room (there is a curtain to block that view which most people would most likely use).

Facilities in the room were overall excellent. Internet is available at a hefty price (a disgraceful Australian practice) and any smart traveller in Australia should carry a wi-fi prepaid tablet to avoid paying those charges (at which point, hotels may perhaps see the light and stop gouging guests with inexplicably expensive internet access charges).

There is a gym which is fine for short term use and small lap pool.

Cleanliness of the room could be better but that is probably a reflection of the staff available during our stay than a comment on the hotel.

I would recommend this hotel to people on business or leisure. Adelaide is one of Australia's best cities and this property is a good base to enjoy it.

Room rates are reasonable if you shop around the many websites that offer this property. We paid around $140 which was a very good rate for a hotel of this quality.

My fiancée and I stayed here as part of our South Australia trip. We stayed there for 4 nights and it being the Easter Weekend, not much thing were happeneing in the CBD (we didn't mind as we had already planned trips to Barossa Valley as well as Kangaroo Island anyway (a must-do trip!!). We arrived at the hotel much earlier than expected (around 10am) which we didn't think we could have check-in but the lovely staff at the recepiton that day informed us that our room will be ready in 10mins - a very nice surprise. The hotel is nicely designed and well kept, our room (Deluxe King Room) was fairly good size and the bathroom is just huge!! We didn't have the breakfast there but did order room service once for our dinner and it was very nicely done and good value for money too!!

The hotel is well located inside the CBD, only 10mins walk away to Rundle Mall Plaza (the main shopping street) and 15mins to North Terrace & River Torrens. It's also well connected to both bus/tram lines on King William St and very convenient for going to Glenelg (a nice suburb by the sea).

We will definitely be going back there again upon our next visit to Adelaide.

Got a nice room on the 18th floor, lovely views. The room size was easily big enough for at least two people, so for just me it was pretty good. The facilities are top notch however the sauna was broke, and not fixed during my stay despite it being raised. The bar is clean and attractive with decent prices, the restuarant looked nice, but i only had some wedges from the in-room dining and they were as good as wedges get. The hotel is pretty central and full of friendly staff always happy to help.

I've had a fairly bad run in Adelaide of late, and chose the Allegra on a recommendation from a colleague. The location is good with a wide range of restaurants and pubs nearby.
I managed to get an upper floor room (16 from memory) with reasonable views, but what a room! The room was easily 50% bigger than most I have stayed in with a huge bathroom to match, including a separate bath and shower. Furnishings were great, the bed was comfortable and the pillow menu was a nice touch.
On a quick stay I didn't get the chance to try the other hotel facilities, but based on the room the Allegra is my new regular Adelaide hotel

This hotel is very good in a great location (a lot of construction in this area of Adelaide in May 2011 - nothing to do with the hotel). The only two issues worth mentioning:
1. At 6'3" tall, sleeping in a king-sized hotel bed is one of the only good things about business travel. This hotel takes two singles and pushes them together leaving a very uncomfortable ridge in the middle of the "king" bed. Not really ideal.
2. For the full five days I stayed there seemed to be a lack of genuinely hot water. After about 2 minutes in the shower I could leave the hot tap on full bore and still not get really hot water. Climate change dictates shorter showers anyway!

My wife and I stayed in this hotel as part of our Oz holiday. Unfortunately we stayed for 5 nights over the Easter period and virtually everything in the Town was closed for 4 of the days.
Arrived about 9am in the morning and book-in was 2pm, I had e-mailed the hotel to ask if we could drop our cases off until book-in. The hotel managed to have our room ready for us and informed us we could use it straight away. which we found excellent.
Hotel very clean and the staff really helpful. Room size good.
We did think the breakfast was very overpriced but unfortunately with the exchange rate the way it is it probably made it seem worse. We would use this hotel again if staying in Adelaide but won't probably go back to Oz until hopefully the £ picks up!!!!
