“Lovely Boutique style Hotel, character and charm”
Reviewed September 15, 2011

Excellent service, friendly attentive staff encountered from the Front Driveway, to Reception to Bell Boy to Breakfast staff... Friendly and helpful which sadly these days comes as a pleasant surprise. We booked a deal through an online booking site and had parking and breakfast included. Rooms were tastefully decorated, modern furnishings that fitted in with the heritage style of the hotel. Large opening window (no view for our room but as we were in at 5pm and out the next day this was not an issue). Rooms contain ipod charging docs, writing desks, king bed, foxtel etc... Bathrooms were large, however shower was over bath and I am so over this in hotels.... Breakfast was very nice & fresh, plenty of fruits to choose from, usual bacon & eggs etc.. all good there. Coffee was good. Lovely sunny spot in the window overlooking North Tce. I would happily stay here again should we be back in Adelaide.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the casino side if avail.

My soon to be wife and I enjoyed a three night stay at the Sebel Playford in September 2011. The hotel definitely deserves it's #1 ranking of hotels in Adelaide. The studio spa suite was spacious, modern and very well appointed. Double glazed windows and balcony doors made for a very quiet room.

Best of all are the staff. You are made to feel welcome from the moment you step into the hotel. The concierge was one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The restaurant recommendations were top notch. Nothing was too much of a hassle.

The buffet breakfast was fantastic with a wide variety of fresh food.

The hotel itself is situated on North Terrace, a short stroll to Rundle Mall, or jump on the tram opposite the hotel and you can be in Glenelg in 20 minutes.

Highly recommended.

This was the second time we have stayed at the sebel, the first was our wedding night, and once again we were thrilled with our stay. This time we stayed overnight with our 3 week old son. I was worried about how we would go taking our baby but the staff were very welcoming and they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. And I can honestly say that the Sebel have the best buffet breakfast I have ever had.

This was my first trip to Adelaide and stayed 2 nights. I booked this hotel as a "mystery hotel" deal. Whilst the hotel was quite comfortable I would not have been happy if I had to pay full price. The service was excellent, particularly front desk reception, and room service. I asked for a quiet room and they happily obliged. I ordered in the first night and had a delicious bowl of vegetable and barley soup but I do think at $18 is a little overpriced. The room whilst very clean looked a little tired and there were marks/stains on the carpet. The bathroom was clean but I did not feel comfortable using the larger bottles of shampoo, soap and conditioner. Whilst I understand that they do this for Enviromental reasons from a hygiene point of view....eeek. Please bring back the smaller sample sizes. The water pressure in the shower was not so great. Due to the fact that I was visiting to attend the Adelaide Royal Show I did not have time to a indulge in the breakfast or evening meals in the Restaurant. The restaurant always looked busy so this is usually a good sign. Have to say I've stayed at better 5 star hotels. However if this is 'mystery deal" hotel it's a fair price to pay for a nice hotel.

A smaller art deco hotel in the centre of Adelaide opposite the Convention Centre and with a tram stop located outside the front door for exploring the city and travel to the pretty beach side suburb of Glenelg some 30 minutes from the CBD. The hotel is within easy walking distance to the riverside and the botanic gardens, the museum, art gallery, University campus and Rundle Street shopping precinct. A range of restaurants are located on Leigh Street within 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel does a great breakfast buffet with a wide range of food well presented by the chefs.

Room Tip: On Saturday nights there is a band playing in the bar and so a higher located room should reduce the...

My husband and I stayed here at the end of Aug for 3 nights for holiday. All members of the hotel was very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean and well maintained.
Location is in the heart of CBD, 5 to 10 minute walking distance to everything (tram, shop, free bus ...). Overall a great experience and I would gladly stay again.
