Business trip mid-Feb. Selected because of proximity to the convention centre and low-ish price. You get what you pay for. the size of the room was fine. It was clean. The bed was comfortable. There was good working space. The bathroom was very tired. Fixtures ancient. Fixed shower head at a low level caused a Lost In Translation moment for me, and I am of only average height. Furniture equally tired and old-fashioned. Homey, I guess would be the word for it. Comfortable enough, but definitely not a place for a romantic interlude. Rather like Adelaide, come to think of it. Staff friendly, check-in efficient, concierge terrific. Didn't try either the pool or the restaurant so can't comment. Neighborhood was fine. Looked a bit down at the heel and, yes, there was the odd "gentlemen's club", but they were more than balanced by n abundance of good small restaurants.
Downside: outrageous charges for the (wired) in-room internet. I stayed five nights. The internet bill came to just under the cost of the room for a night. No big downloads, just work emails. Outrageous.More
