The O'Connell inn is now owned by the same folks that own the Prairie Hotel in Parachilna, which is an iconic country pub. My stay was characterised by that country 'warmth' and personal approach. There is some great Aboriginal art for sale in the lobby and restaurant area which support indigenous artists and they have changing exhibitions. Several of the rooms have been updated and I can only suppose any negative reviews on this site are from before this team took over. Really great location and atmosphere!

Perfect for a short stay!

Stayed for just one night recently and found the owner/operators lovely to deal with for the stay and chat with at the bar :-) the location is great with everything in North Adelaide in walking distance and free parking to boot!

I once lived in Adelaide, and recently returned with my family to visit relatives for the weekend. The O'Connell Inn is a fairly standard motel, maybe 1980's in style and not very recently renovated. But (of course) its clean, spacious, well appointed and inexpensive. It has plenty of free parking space - a rarerity in towns (we had a hire car), the bus into the city stops across the sreet - and its in the middle of North Adelaide, with its cafe's, bars, parklands and architecture. Oh, and the staff were charming and extremely helpful. Next time I'm in Adelaide, I'll be staying there again...

Great location, close to lots of eateries and bars, spoilt for choice really. O'Connell Street is a great place just outside of the Adelaide CBD, but highly recommended for great resturants, a movie theatre and good shopping and a very quick taxi ride to anywhere. This hotel has very friendly management who know how to welcome you and quiet rooms with all the amenities you need. The owners helped us with everything from where to park, best eating and drinking spots, and will go the extra mile to assist with taxis, buses - anything really! If you are visiting Adelaide then I recommend you stay here, North Adelaide is a great place to visit.

Travelling from regional South Australia and was looking for somewhere reasonably priced for an overnight stay.
Great location in North Adelaide close to bars, cafes, restaurants and shops.
Friendly management, free carparking and free wi-fi made this excellent value for money.
Will definitely stay here again.

excellent value, stayed for a week in mid summer, air con worked well. Great location, just past the northern end of the wonderful strip of North Adelaide restaurants (so it's quiet for sleeping but an easy walk to a great selection of eateries). free wifi and off street parking are good too.
