We received a voucher to do this tour as a gitt. We had reception at the Hilton Hotel with a morning tea and nibblies (Both very good). Then the walk began with a full tour of the market, with commentary and samples. Luncheon was modified Yum Cha at a Gouger Street Chinese restaurant (not a fan of yum cha - but enjoyed it anyway. Tour ended with tea coffee and biscuits. All in all an enjoyable 4 hours. Excellent way to see markets an Adelaide icon

We were given a very personal perspective of the Central Market by one of the stall holders. To start our taste buds were given a sharp learning curve (well for me) in trying an award winning Aussie Olive Oil sloshed over ball tomatoes. After that visiting the other stall holders and tasting their produce further enlarged a limited epicurean palate! I'm glad that we took the time to do this tour as it was 'tastefully' educational!

Don't expect this market to be cheap. Prices are a bit higher than other markets, but the quality of food is of a high standard and many stalls are selling the most amazing gourmet foods. It is worth a visit if you are a tourist or just looking for something that you won't normally find in a regular deli.
