“Don't leave Adelaide without eating here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

We ate here twice when visiting Adelaide. First evening was busy and noisy but excellent friendly service. Food was just fantastic and perfectly cooked. They know about cooking and flavours here. Second visit was extended Saturday lunch. We had tasting menu and wow! It was much quieter. Waitress was so helpful and knowledgeable. She had it just right. The menu was generous and well paced. Quality of food they source and flavours just faultless. Cannot recommend highly enough. Well done Press!

“Great Food & Wine Establishment”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

We had been to lunch here and spied the whole pig being served at another table. Enquiries were made and we were advised we needed ten people to order this delectable dish. Gathered our friends and made a Saturday night booking and were not disappointed. The serve of pork is huge with plenty of vegies as sides so unless you are a big eater entrees are not needed. We just had some bread with a drink while we waited for this amazing main course. Can thoroughly recommend as a fun night for a group of friends to get together. Other dishes on the menu are great too and the desserts were yummy.

“Reasonable food but needs to improve on service!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Went on a weekday for lunch. Only two persons servicing the downstairs dining area. It's was pretty busy.
It was my first time there so to have a good idea of the food, I ordered the tasting menu.

The drinks and the bread came promptly. On my way to the washroom, I had a look at the open kitchen. It was clean and well organised. My rating for the restaurant went up a notch.

Appetisers were yellow fin tuna with wasabi dressing and citrus-cured kingfish. The tuna was fresh and very tasty but for the overpowering wasabi dressing. The wasabi dressing was nothing more than wasabi mayo. What a pity to drizzle mayo on exquisitely fresh and sweet tuna. If I go back for this dish, I'll tell them to leave off the mayo.

The kingfish on the other hand was just perfect. The citrus taste complemented the fish just right. You just wish for more after the first bite.

Next came the chorizo. It was done nice and not too salty but nothing to get excited about. The grilled squid was good. Tender and fresh.

Then came the mains. First I tried the roasted pork belly. Wow, one of the better ones I've tasted. The crackling was crispy without being tough and the meat was tender and very juicy. When I cut into it, the juices just oozed out.

The steak that followed paled in comparison. It didn't help that even though the steak was done medium rare on the inside, the outer layer was over charred and tough. On top of that, it was over salted.

Dessert was decent but after that everything went downhill. By the time I finished dessert and was just about ready for coffee, all previous diners have left. One of the wait staff went upstairs (another dining room) to help out and the other started storing away cases of wines and beers stacked by the side of the dining room. We were left to wave and try to catch their attention as the waiters moved in and out of the restaurant. It was only when new diners came in that one of them looked in our direction. By then I had no mood for coffee and called for the bill.

The bill was placed on the table and and the waiter busied himself with his crates of wines and beer again. It was another
many minutes before a waiter saw our waving and collected the bill and my credit card.

Well, it was just unfortunate that my experience with this restaurant ended with the poor service. It is unforgivable that the wait staff seem to have forgotten the diner. It was not pleasant for the diner to be forgotten and ignored.

“An exemplary modern Australian restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

I loved this restaurant, it is modern edgy warehouse style restaurant near the heart of Adelaide city with a variety of seating options - tables and booths upstairs for which you must book, and long shared benches downstairs for those walking off the street or eating alone. And wanting to meet some new people. It has a very friendly, young atmosphere so it is not a quietplace but the hum of conversations adds to the energy that the very efficient young staff bring to their service. The large place was full on a Monday night (a very good sign) but not once did I feel we were waiting for service. Water was replenished and wine and food delivered at just the right pace. They encourage you to share dishes if you are with a group and that was an excellent way to choose the menu. They have entrees, mains and deserts but it is a bit pick and mix to meet individual preferences. Meat, fish and vegetable dishes were all fresh, tasty, perfectly cooked and served.
There is no mystery as to why this new place has become very popular in a very short time. It absolutely earns its success through hard work, attention to detail and very delicious food at a reasonable price.
