Service was bad, food took over 2 hours to come out and then was cold and wrong order, or food just didnt arrive. Would not go back again.

“Perefct steak”

This it the place to have a spelendid steak. Its the best beef i had in many years. And the staff is really good. Nice price level as well. Check it out!

“All gimmick and no bite”

Centrally located in the ‘Village’ shopping mall OBJ’s (as they refer to themselves) is all gimmick and no bite. We arrived a little earlier than our reservation for 18 people and sat near the bar area. The service was initially good but soon went downhill when we asked to start a tab. The bar doesn’t accept any form of credit and it is a cash only area. We did have the option of paying by credit card through our table number at the end of the meal. However, we still weren’t able to start up a tab. OBJ’s does not do separate bills no matter how many people you are dining with. The ATM is conveniently located downstairs just past the escalators. They did agree to split half of the bill for the entire table but by this time we realised they were missing the point.
The amount of staff for a semi-full restaurant is lacking. There was 4-5 staff that made your drinks, served your food and cleaned tables. At times you had to wait to get service for drinks. Most of the meals are overpriced. I went for the ribs combo and it was a massive serve – which reinforces OBJ’s ethos that quantity is better than quality. The ribs were served on a large metal platter with an equally large salad. The meal was disappointing as the ‘slow cooked’ ribs were tougher than they should’ve been and the salad had no dressing on it which was a shame as it had everything going for it except taste. Others who ordered a smaller meal were disappointed when they saw their 300gm steak on a massive plate that was dwarfed by the salad. The open kitchen is a nice idea but do you really want to see your pre-prepared salad sitting on the bench an hour before you get your meal?
OBJ’s prides itself on service and has all of the gimmicks e.g. the kilo steak challenge where you need to eat it within 30 minutes and you get a shirt or the kids eat cheaply between Sunday and Thursday etc. However, the food and service is seriously lacking. We were wondering whether to stay for dessert or another round of drinks but changed our mind when staff had started to put the chairs up on the tables! This was at 9.40pm and they claim to stay open late!
Overall it’s a gimmicky place that will provide an interesting experience for International guests who love their large slabs of meat but don’t know any better. Check out their website that lists the number of awards it has won - you won’t find a single one.

“Pretty good”

One of my mates chose this place to host our reunion after numerous years and since all of us were carnivorous, we all agreed to eat here.

Steak is their specialty with numerous cuts and styles on offer although there is fish, chicken and pork if someone doesn't want steak or ribs. There are even vegetarian offers although it's best to go for the steaks or ribs if you go here.

There is a good selection of drinks to go with the food and a small wine cellar to choose from. Don't expect anything spectacular though.

For families, there is a small kids room to keep restless kids occupied. And it is a very good idea as well because it took quite a while for our food to arrive although there was a warning sign about food taking some time particularly on busy nights like friday or saturday.

Still, quite a fun place to eat at and for those who are truly ravenous, there is a 1kg steak challenge whereby if you can finish it in 30 minutes, you get a t-shirt and some gift vouchers.

“Tough steak - no apology.”

Decided on a "casual" restaurant for a steak during a business discussion. We were greeted warmly and seated where we wanted. Staff were keen to take our order -coming to our table every few minutes whilst we we're clearly still perusing the menu.
Ourmeals were delivered promptly, and whils the angus porterhouse was tender and cooked well, the Neptune steak was as tough as old boots. Had we been at a "proper" steak restaurant it would have been promptly returned. When the waiter asked how the meals were and we advised the Neptune was tough, there was no apology, just the "explanation" that steaks with toppings used cheaper cuts.
Warning. Don't choose a steak with a topping.
We eat out a lot - and certainly won't be back!!!!! Neither will our friends or associates!!
