“Pleasantly Surprised”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013

We chose to eat here since they were opened for dinner at 5 pm as we seeing a show at Her Majesty's Theatre. The menu was very diverse in its choices, tapas, pasta, wood fired pizzas, entrees, mains etc. My husband and I chose two mains from the special's board. I had the Barramundi wrapped in Jamon with heirloom tomatoes and rosemary potatoes and I was not disappointed. It was succulent and delicious as was my husbands Char Siu Pork Chop. Our friends also enjoyed their entrees and mains, Salt & Pepper Squid and Beef & Cashew Stir Fry.

After the Show we returned for a drink and I ordered a Cocktail but was very disappointed with the Strawberry Margarita. Please Adelaide learn how to make a decent Margarita! They do however have a good selection of local beer and regional wine at reasonable prices.

We will definitely be back as the food and prices are so good but do yourself a favour and steer clear of their cocktails.

“Better viewed as a bar than as a pleasant place to dine, despite decent food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2013

This is an old (19th century) pub, which has been given a modern makeover.

Recently, I visited for dinner.

The dining area is at the back of the pub- you can sit inside or outside in a small courtyard.

At the front, there is a sizeable bar and lounge area- on the evening I was there, they had a performer playing the guitar and singing.

The whole area is dimly lit.

The front bar area has a contemporary feel- it would be a good place to meet with friends for a drink.

However, in my view, this aspect of the ambience compromised the attractiveness of the dining area, as the singer was quite loud, which made it difficult to converse while sat at one of the dining tables.

Turning to the food, you order at the counter. There is a wide range of pizzas, as well as pub fare- ranging from an $18 burger up to $84 for Chateaubriand for two.

I had a burger, which was quite tasty, and served with well cooked French fries.

My rating for this establishment is based on the bar's ambience. Frankly, I thought that what gave the bar appeal detracted from the desirability of dining there. At least this pub is offering something different, which is well done and will have appeal for certain occasions.

“cool vibes and music”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013

We dropped in for a drink after pizza at barrio uno...we liked the place and had a nice time meeting the locals..we stopped and listened to the dj and had a good time. The service was friendly and we shared some good times. We tried the local Adelaide beers and recommend this hotel to other travellers as a friendly place with good music.

“Great for catch-ups”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

Had dinner here with an old friend after work, our first time here.

Environment was cozy, nice ambiance, but did get a bit loud later in the evening. Pricing was reasonable. We ended up ordering our own food (as it states to order at the bar on the menu) but the person at the bar was confused by us doing this. I guess if you dine in the actual restaurant part you have wait-staff? Still not completely sure!

Food was alright. My burger bun was burned in one spot (completely black) but the burger was so large that I only ate half of it and ignored that part. The potion size is definitely large for the price you're paying! Fries were delicious, so was the garlic bread.

Would come back for drinks and catch-ups with friends!

We stumbled across this trendy little hotel by accident and went back several nights in a row. Service was very good and meals were fantastic. Do your selves a favour.
