“Hidden jewel - Crowne Plaza”
Reviewed September 11, 2011

He and I stayed instead of driving home after a wedding dinner in the city. The Crowne Plaza is a hidden jewel in Adelaide. Tucked into the corner of Hindmarsh Square, we found excellent and helpful staff, impeccably clean room and deserving of the superior tag. Large bath room, with bath and seperate shower. Lovely view of the square, which was quiet up on the 4th floor. Comfy bed. Great breakfast in RedSalt. Valet Parking. We will be staying again instead of driving home. Would recommend you do same. Thanks!

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room. View of Hindmarsh Square. 4th floor.

Had booked a one night stay for a standard room with breakfast. We arrived early and was immediately given an upgraded room with late checkout. We liked the size and layout of the bathroom. The breakfast buffet was fairly standard. Staff were friendly and helpful and unobtrusive (which we prefer).

LOCATION: Very centrally located less than a minute walk to Adelaide’s main shopping and dining street: Rundle Mall/Street. A valet parking costs 32 AUD.
HOTEL: Good valet staff. Professional and friendly front desk staff, who provided fast check-in, and check-out. A new hotel with smallish, minimalistic room. Excellent beds and pillows. Nice, clean and modern bathroom with excellent shower. New but surprisingly noisy heater/air conditioner. Standard breakfast provided by decent breakfast staff.
CONCLUSION: A new hotel in an excellent location with a more than competent staff. Recommended.

So nice to be in a hotel room that feels fresh & new!...Shame my room looked out onto one of the levels of a multi story carpark...That being said I'd still recommend it to all! The hotel has a sexy, contemporary feel and the staff where friendly & helpful. I LOVED the bathroom: loads of bench space & a walk in shower. This is my new favorite hotel in Adelaide!

My wife and I stayed for one night following my sons wedding at Ayers House. We had a Delux room, which exceeded my expectations and had a good size bathroom with a shower and bath. My son and his new wife had a suite, which they said was great. Our room overlooked the Hindmarsh Square park. We had breakfast with my son and daughter-in-law the next morning. It was very busy as it was Fathers day and we waited for a table for about 10 minutes. Some people had booked a table, but it was really no big deal. The Hotel is fairly new and everything was therefore in good condition. One problem which has happened to us at other Hotels, is that on the day of check out, your room key card has become invalid, and you have to line up to get it reprogramed.

From the moment I got there to the moment I left, the service was second to none. Every hotel staff I encountered, from the bell desk, reception to room service were extremely friendly, courteous, helpful and genuine, they went out of their way to make my stay special!

The location of the hotel is second to none, right in the heart of Adelaide, it is within walking distance to Rundle Mall, Restaurants, Shops, Cinemas and the Tram to Glenelg. Taxi is always available at the hotel and if not, they will call one for you without any problem.

The hotel decor was nice and clean, warm tones and the lobby was very cosy. I did not try the restaurant on site but I read great reviews about it. I did however order room service for breakfast every morning and it wasn't anything spectacular but it was fine. Room service was always fast and efficient and delivered with a smile.

The room was nice and spacious, I had a king superior room with a fantastic view over Hindmarsh Square. I was advised that both the Superior and Deluxe rooms come with a nice view, only difference is you get a balcony with the Deluxe. The king bed was very comfy and came with an array of different pillows. There was a nice LCD Tv on the wall with limited cable channels, mini-bar with snacks and drinks and also a kettle/mugs with free coffee and tea. The bathroom was quite large, with a separate tub and walk-in shower which was huge! The amenities provided were great, comes with hotel branded soap, shampoo, conditioner shower gel and body lotion. A little vanity kit is also provided which is a nice touch. You also get bathrobes and slippers to use. Housekeeping was efficient, left the room spotless everyday and the sheets get changed if you request so.

Overall it was a great stay, great service and location. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Adelaide.

Room Tip: Ask for room with a view (Superior or Deluxe)

We travelled to Adelaide for a long weekend break from Perth-it was planned as a surprise birthday gift for my partner. We got to the hotel about an hour after check in time to be told the room wasn't cleaned yet. The staff at reception gave us a couple of drink vouchers to take to the bar and were told that they would come get us when the room was ready. These things happen so we took it in our stride. Nobody came to get us for an hour so we went back to reception - different staff member was in attendence and they didn't know what we were talking about....however, the room was now ready so up we went. It was a lovely corner room with a king bed and views over the city. Sweet.
The next day we wandered round the city for the day and got back to the room at about 3pm to have a nap in preperatio for a big night that was planned. Our room wasn't made up yet...ok. At 4pm a note was slipped under our door saying that as the privacy sign was on our room wasn't going to be made up - if we wanted to reschedule we could call cleaning before 4pm. Helfpful.
The third day of our stay the room cleaner knowcked on the door at 3pm - we were watching a footy game....final game of the season for our team (The Dockers). We asked if tehy could come back at 4pm - no problem at all. We went out at 4pm and came back at 6pm. The room hadn't been cleaned.
In all, we stayed in the hotel 3 nights, the room wasn't ready when we arrived and wasn't serviced the whole time we were there. This is a 5 star hotel so it's a littel frustrating when you are paying around $A275 a night.
On the upside, the valet staff were really helfpul. We had a dinner booked in the Adelaide hills (a bit out of town) and were worried a taxi wouldn't come and get us at the end of the night. The valet prebooked it for us - talking to our taxi driver on the way back to the hotel, this is the only reason a taxi picked us up.
