We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite on the 24th-27th April 2013..

I have a mobility issue so we stayed in the accessible suite which suited my needs really well. The apartment was big enough without being too spacious so I was able to get around easily. The main bedroom was just big enough to fit a queen bed but it had to be shifted out of the way so the bedroom door would shut.

It was a bit noisy too. There was a group staying across the courtyard from us who seemed to be having a great time at all hours. They were having some funny conversations which kept us entertained. I sleep with ear plugs so it didn't worry me to much..

Added cost of parking was a little excessive at $15 a day! Whoa! And the cushions on the furniture should be lifted and vacuumed as there was food scraps in the tub chair, a couple broken biscuit which was pretty gross.

Not a great experience. I have stayed in many apartments and this complex is definitely not worthy of 4 stars. I booked a two bedroom apartment online for two lots of three nights, with a night break in the middle. The apartments looked decent in the photos.

When we arrived, we were put in an apartment which you couldn't fit your suitcases in the bedrooms and had to be in the lounge for the complete stay. There is major construction going on next door creating alot of noise, which is not good after a long flight.

We were changed to another apartment further away which reduced the noise level. Unfortunately we could not upgrade to the next level of two bed apartments as they were fully booked.

The bed in the double room had springs coming through it, so asked to change it, which they did.

The cancellation policy for apartments were 24hrs, but because I booked online, I had to adhere to Mantra policy which is 48hrs.

I then asked for an upgrade when we returned which we got. Bigger apartment, but still very tired inside. Outside looks very good.

Not a pleasant stay and would advise travellers check the size of apartment if they are booking with this company.

Room Tip: Check the size of apartment before confirming.

We stayed at the Break Free in Hindley St as a family and enjoyed being in the action but away from the hustle & bustle of the street.
As some of the other reviews state; there are pluses and minuses with this venue.
On the plus side the room was good, the parking great, the garden area pleasant and it is central. On the minus, our room was at the back and noisy. To get to the room from the car was a fair walk with 2 lifts or alternatively 2 sets of stairs. None of these were "big" negatives just mild inconveniences.
One negative though that I think seems to repeat itself from my own anecdotal experience and others may have an opinion on this; If you book through Wotif with a lot of Motels you tend to get allocated the lower grade rooms. I would be interested to know what others have experienced.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't face the street ... or factory at the rear.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience with us.
We are glad to read that your family enjoyed their visit, although you found the property spread out.
Thank you for your note regarding our friends at Wotif, one point I may suggest when making a reservation through our hotel brand site or through any other website is to just let us know through the comment section what your preference is; for example a "courtyard facing room" or if you prefer to be "near to the street" and absorb the street life on the balcony just let us know. You may have a preference of bedding configuration, or a requirement to be "close to the lift". The more information our Reservations Team has at hand, the better we can accommodate you. Our property as you note is spread out and the Team will always do their best to accommodate preferences wherever possible.
Sincerely

The rooms were sufficient if a little crammed. The noise on a Saturday night was atrocious. People walking around in the hotel all night and the partying in the street outside. Very little sound insulation. Parking was $15 which is a little steep after paying a premium price for a room.

We are touring from the UK and were recommended this hotel as an alternative one in the same group that we had selected, was full. In truth, we do not know how much the self-catering studio cost and we were here only for two nights. We agree with some of the comments by other reviewers that the charges in today's world for Internet use by hotels is extortionate, that the room was tired, etc.

Our drab room was on the first floor overlooking the street, which we found to be noisy both from traffic and shouting drunk passing pedestrians at three in the morning. The saving grace of this room were the excellent washing and tumble drying facility tightly squeezed alongside the WC, for when travelling about in Australia and living from a suitcase, this is a welcomed bonus. We did not find the distance from Rundles to be inconvenient and found the hotel's location to most places within this personable city ideal. We found the neighbouring Hindley Street attractions novel but not offensive and at no time did we feel threatened or uncomfortable. The availability of a gym around the corner was a bonus although a bit tired in its style. Wonderful to have car parking facility in the city.

One clear positive quality of this hotel was its staff. Firstly, the team of receptionists, who were always cheerful and extremely helpful on every occasion that I had need to annoy them with fatuous questions about Adelaide. Secondly, bedroom staff are rarely recognised for their service, but again when we met, our encounters were very hospitable. Thank you all for your care.

Room Tip: Away from the street and not on first floor

Very affordable 2 bedroom apartments here. Location is good enough. Not incredibly central, but not too much of a walk to get into the CBD. Clean premises, helpful staff. Bedrooms are a little small, but for the price you can't complain :)

Room Tip: Get the biggest room possible :)

We had rooms at the back of the complex so were not bothered by any nightlife noises that have been unfavourably reviewed by others.
The hotel is nice and central and very close to the free tram which we used quite often.
We found our units clean and very roomy with all the thongs we needed.
My only criticism would be the cheap fry pan and saucepans with round bottoms didn't make good contact with the solid elements on the stove thus it took a while to cook my breakfast.

Room Tip: Make sure you get rooms in the internal or back units if you don't want nightlife noise.
