“Met expectations”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2012 via mobile

Value for over night stay, off street parking does make the price good value compared to similar motels across the Torrens. Agree rooms could do with a modernization, but then price would go up?
Good location, close to cbd, O'Connell street.
God coffee from cafe in foyer

We recently had a 5-night stay in a one bedroomed suite facing the carpark and would agree with many of the earlier comments. The property is well located at the eastern end of Melbourne Rd, excellent for driving access and as a base for day trips around the region. The room itself was gloomy and partially renovated, still with echoes of the 70s - 1" brown mosaic tiles in the bathroom (no extractor fan); the tiny kitchenette had sliding cupboard doors and an extractor fan of the same vintage. There was only one kitchenette power point so you could not use the toaster, kettle and microwave at the same time, and there was minimal fridge space apart from the minibar products. Although the room was advertised as sleeping 4 it would have been a very uncomfortable squeeze to have done so, and the fit-out (bathroom off the bedroom, numbers of chairs, cutlery, glasses etc) was definitely for two. However our room was quiet and clean, there were heat pumps in both rooms, a large flat screen TV (unfortunately not visible from the bed) and a VERY firm bed. We had no issues with room servicing and would stay again for convenience.

Thank you very much for your detailed review of your stay last month. We enjoy receiving feedback from our guests and find it very useful tool to see what is most important to our guests.

Most of our rooms are certainly set up for a comfortable two person stay and on a lot of sites we state a maximum of three people to ensure guests comfort. We often have people who prefer to share a room to reduce their costs, especially for shorter stays which is why we have left the actual bedding maximum on some sites.

We have had a couple of comments recently about not being able to see the television from the bedroom in our one rooms suite & apartment room types, and are in the process of checking the feasability of installing another television in the bedrooms for these rooms.

We are gradually trying to improve the facilities in the room type you stayed in, but the bathrooms and kitchenettes in these rooms are definately an older style. Although our Executive rooms are much more modern in style we still have quite a number of people who prefer the advantage of having two rooms at their disposal.

The team at the Meridien hope to see you back in the future and hope to hear more suggestions as to how we can continue to improve our guests experience.

Thanks again.

Fiona

Stayed with my parents here for one night as attending function in the area. Really outdated furniture and not great pressure on the showers.

For 3 people for one night the cost was okay, look more like a place country people stay when visiting the city.

On a plus I hear the breakfast is good at Perfect Cup downstairs, service was good, handy location (cost me $13 to get back from the CBD) and the windows open to let in fresh air.

We only had one night here and unlike one of the reviewers, we had a massive room, the space was far under utilised, there was a tiny table and 2 chairs that looked lost in the room despite the bed and sofa, some more furniture like a coffee table would help make it look more lived in. Also, we were suprised the spa suite didn't have a balcony whereas the other rooms without one did. The room was clean enough the bathroom could have done with a spruce up as when the spa filled up the over bath shower head ran as well and wouldn't completely shut off hence lots of water on the floor. The room was ok in that we had coffee (but no decaf) and an iron and ironing board which was very welcome. I was very suprised there was no in room safe but the staff kindly put my laptop in their reception safe. Parking was good and the staff friendly, we managed to get into our room earlier than the official check in time. So for an out of the city hotel it was fine but could lift itself with a few small touches.

Had a four night stay here in an apartment type room. It was a good thing that the lounge room and and bedroom had reverse cycle air or I would have froze watching TV.(no tiny LCD's here big screens) Downside was could not watch TV from bed. My room appeared not to have a vacuum for the whole period of my stay as powder I spilled remained on the carpet for the whole period. Fridge was too small for what it contained could not fit in a one litre carton of milk due the plethora of drinks the minibar had. Restaurant was ok on two nights. The first night I ordered garfish with chips and salad and received garlic prawns, very apologetic and received my garfish in just over five minutes and then was not charged. Big bonus point. Another night it had a bus group in and clearly could not cope with the quantity of people eating, the wait was just over an hour from when we ordered till we got our mains however we were warned by the waitress that we faced a long wait before we ordered. Restaurant and bar staff very pleasant and friendly.
Overall the place had seen better days I think. My room which was number 20 also had a patched up wall with filler which had not been rubbed back or painted.
Had a good nights sleep each night as the bed was solid and my room was at the back away from street noise.
On the upside this side of Adelaide is not as seedy as around Hindley Street and is quite leafy with a variety of restaurants in short walking distance, feels heaps safer to walk around too.

We probably had the worst room in the complex, small and right next to the conference rooms. Very noisy and didn't appreciate being woken early than we wanted. There was no exhaust fan in the small bathroom. Our room was made up on the 2nd day and we didn't request it. Some would like that but we didn't. Staff were fine and the restaurant downstairs is great. Free parking is an attraction but the pol location is disappointing, not that we used it.

Thanks for your review. All feedback is helpful and encouraged by us to ensure that the product we provide meets and exceeds guests expectations. On this occasion we appear to have fallen short of expectations. Our budget rooms are much smaller than all other rooms in the property and although we state this on the website I will look into including square meter sizes for all our room types so it is easier to see the differences so guests are not disappointed when they arrive.

I am sorry your stay was disturbed due to noise from the conference rooms. There are doors to the guest area that can be closed when we have conferences but were unfortunately left open during your stay.

We do make up all rooms daily as most of our guests appreciate their bathrooms cleaned and their beds made when they return to their rooms, however we provide do not disturb signs should guests not wish to take advantage of this service.

We are committed to providing a quality product and service for all of our guests and ask that should at any time we not deliver to your expectations that you please let us know and we will endeavour to help, especially with any maintenance issues as sometimes we are not aware there is a problem until a guest lets us know.

Thanks again for your feedback.

We had a nice stay at this hotel for one evening. The staff was nice enough to check us in early. Not alot to see in the area, and don't expect views, as you're in the city. But the apartment was cozy. No complaints!
