“Great chinese with no thirsty after effect”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

This is my new favorite Chinese in Gouger Street. The shallot pancakes are a must try, they melt in the mouth. In fact all the entrees are really good. The long beans with chicken mince are fantastic as were all the main dishes we tried. The only main course that was disappointing was the sizzling beef, which failed to sizzle! They have a good wine list at reasonable prices. Quite often after eating Chinese I experience bad indigestion and a real thirst, which I never got at all eating here, I didn't ask but it could possibly be because they don't use MSG.
One of our party asked for gluten free which they had no problem organising. All in all a very pleasant experience.

“Chinese New Year”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

Chinese New Year Yum Cha: we were there for the second sitting. The room was crowded, patrons were lined up outside. The noise level was extreme, conversation was impossible. Service was terrible as there were insufficient staff. There was a poor range of dishes, very few dumplings etc. We struggled to attract the attention of staff to order drinks and found it almost impossible to obtain spoons for sweet dishes. Staff tripped over crockery left on the floor and a glass lazy susan shattered over the floor after being accidentally bumped from a chair by a patron. Among this chaos, a television crew arrived to film patrons further restricting access to food and staff. One never forgotten Chinese New Year.

“New Years Feast”
Reviewed February 14, 2013 via mobile

Busy as it was for the New Years the staff were friendly & had the meals on the tables in good time. The flavours were a pleasure to the palate, with spices & herbs galore. The variety was spectacular & rewarding. The full restaurant was a sign of its popularity & need to book. Great value for money.

“Yum Cha”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

If you like Yum Cha, don't go anywhere else in Adelaide. The chef knows exactly what is required. I have often eaten there with Chinese friends (as well as Australian), and no-one walks away disappointed.

“Not bad, not memorable”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

Have eaten here three times. Each time was a little different. The service seems to be better if you have a booking, but even then, its very chaotic.

The food is good, but not particularly fast or cheap...Expect that one bit of your order will be stuffed up, whether the mains arrive before the appetizers or the beer you order isn't the one delivered or the waiter forgot about your dessert order. This can be annoying, especially for the $$ you may spend at Ding Hao...

In short, its an average place...but there are better options for Chinese on Gouger St, including right across the street...
