We would highly recommend this apartment, nice and spacious for a family of four or 2 couples. Fitted out to a high standard and having 2 bathrooms is a real bonus. We did mainly self catering meals and kitchen was fabulous. We also used the bbq and outside area most nights. Lots of wildlife to entertain us in the evenings. We also enjoyed the pool and was in a great location to walk to the Marina or to the main Resorts/Beach.

This apartment is well located on the island, half way between the Marina and the resorts & Catseye beach. It is tastefully furnished and very comfortable, with everything you could need for your stay. We travelled with teenagers, so no longer need things for small children, but we could see that small children are catered for too.
The Poinciana pool is fabulous, and we preferred it to the large resort pool down by the beach. Most times we were virtually the only people using it, or there were very few others there, so it was nicer and more relaxing than the busy, sometimes very noisy (small children noise, which we no longer enjoy!) large resort pool. It is easy to take over lunch to eat by the pool, as it is so close to the apartment.
The view from the apartment is beautiful, and it was lovely to relax on sun loungers or sit around the table for meals in our own little space.
The one downside to being on the ground floor level was that other guests consistently walked past, whilst we were outside or sitting eating at our table. This is despite it being explained in the by-laws that guests are not supposed to walk on the grassed area in front of the block; presumably they had not bothered to read the booklet in their apartment, and were ignorant of the fact that they should be considerate of other guest's privacy. We were unfortunate enough to have two groups of friends either side of us, and they were continually backwards and forwards to each other's apartments with absolutely no regard for us. We ended up speaking to them about it, and they were fairly unpleasant about it, which is not what we want to happen on holiday, so it might be a good idea to make it clearer to guests somewhere that they should not use that side of the apartment as an access point.
The golf buggy being included was great, as it is definitely the way to get around and not having to think about filling up with petrol was fantastic!
All in all, if we ever return to Hamilton Island, we would definitely consider staying here again.

I recently went to the Whitsunday Islands (early July 2015) and stayed in Poinciana 011 for 5 nights with 3 friends from New York. We could not have been happier with our choice ! Firstly, it's hard to go wrong staying anywhere in Hamilton Island. We were swayed because of the airport on the island, but it turned out to be gorgeous in its own right. Catseye beach and Passage Peak are must sees. Secondly, Poinciana 011 was SUCH an amazing find! The unit itself is gorgeous: amazing finishes (granite countertops, beautiful tiles in living room and bathroom; seemed recently renovated), very spacious and incredible views. Seeing the sunset from the master bedroom overlooking the water and mountains with cockatoos and lorikeets flying around was really surreal! The unit comes with a fully stocked kitchen (plates, glasses / cups, cutlery, etc.) which is nice for the nights you feel like staying home and eating a home cooked meal. The unit was cleaned right before we arrived and we got clean towels and linens (not to mention a champagne bottle :)). We didn't want to stay in a hotel (not only was it SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive, but we wanted the independence of an apartment). However, having some hotel-like perks was ideal. The unit also comes with a buggy you can use to drive around the island, which definitely came in handy every single day. Not to say we couldn't have walked everywhere too (both the main pier and the beach were very close).
Takeaway - definitely go to the Whitsunday Islands; from the Great Barrier reef to Hill Inlet at Whitehaven, the natural beauty is hard to beat! Once you've made that (not too difficult) decision, you would be well served to stay in Poinciana 011
