“OUTSTANDING - not to be missed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the twilight dinner cruise on our last evening of a five day break at Hamilton Island. We are SO glad we did this - it was a wonderful evening hosted well by cap'n and crew including a chef who clearly knew his art. The superb sunset during the first hour of the cruise was a terrific bonus.
The three hours had a great sense of being unhurried - the food was excellent, beverages varied and catered for all tastes and service attentive but not overbearing. And the boat itself is a wonderful piece of (recent) Australian history.
For a couple holidaying on Hamilton Island, if you only take one excursion, make it the Denison Star.

“Best dinner cruise we have ever done!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2013

We have done our fair share of cruises at sunset, dinner cruises etc in many corners of the world. Given they often over promise and under deliver, we almost did not do the Denison Star dinner cruise, and that would have been a big mistake. This is the best we have ever experienced. The food was outstanding - we enjoyed more food than we could eat, all fresh and tasty seafood.

The standout for the evening was the service and the friendliness of the staff, from the informative Captain to the waitstaff. A very special thank you to Yves, our waitperson from Germany who new more Aussie phrases than we thought possible - no worries Yves!

We intend returning to HI and will definitely do this dinner cruise again - not something I ever thought I would say about a dinner cruise. Clearly the Witsunday's were part of the magic, along with the staff, including the chef - it all came together for an excellent evening.

“Dinner cruise in style”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

Went on the a la carte dinner cruise on The Denison Star. A brilliant time being well looked after by friendly staff. The welcoming daiquiri started the evening off on a top note followed by a superb sunset and fantastic food and wine made the adventure one to remember. Cruised back to harbour admiring the brilliant starlit night. Highly recommend going on this dinner cruise.

“A must do on HI”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013 via mobile

We went on the Denison Starlay night to celebrate our anniversary, and I couldn't have picked a better way to do it.

Upon arriving you get a delicious cocktail which is nice to cool you down followed by an array of cold meats, cheese, dips etc to snack on while you get further out into the water.

The captain explains where you are in the reef, what the highlights are and a bit of history. A really nice touch and informative.

We were lucky to have a very small number on our cruise, only 14 ppl when it can seat just over 40. So we got a table for 2. I had booked the private dining originally given it was our anniversary at an extra $40 pp but we opted to sit down stairs anyway.

A word of warning.. Only have a small lunch!!! The platters are huge! The first cold platter has bugs, prawns and oysters and plenty of them. It is all so fresh. The prawns were SO tasty!
2nd course is the hot platter which we had salmon, chicken, roast vege and prawn laksa. The laksa was the star of the dish. Thicker than a normal laksa which meant you get more sauce on the noodles and prawns. We weren't too fussed on the salmon, it was like it was poached or maybe oven backed not pan seared. That is just our preferred way to cook it so I wouldn't say it's a negative. It was still full of flavor and fresh.

There is a good selection of wines to choose from, included in your meal, or you can pay to upgrade to a better bottle (around $15-$20)

I was a little hesitant about it when booking thinking it might just be an expensive boat trip with some average 'buffet' food. I was wrong! It is a MUST DO when you visit HI!
