Just got back from a wonderful trip on Hamilton Island.
Was mine and my boyfriends first holiday together and couldn't of picked a better place.
The view of the rooms was just amazing. We requested to be high up and was very please waking up every morning to a view of the ocean.
The cockatoos were very friendly but wouldn't recommend trying to eat on the deck or they will most likely will land on the deck with about 20 of their friends.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very please to see our rooms completely cleaned after every morning.
So many activities to do, we went on a trip to Whitehaven on the Catamaran which was beautiful. Other favourites were the trip to reef world and the cruise on the Dennison Star. So romantic and blissful.
There was only one thing on our otherwise perfect holiday. And that was in using the entertainment book voucher we didn't get to indulge in the breakfast buffets and if we wished to was told we would have to pay $38 each every day. This wasn't mentioned on anything prior to our arrival and was hoping to save some food money by having the buffet.
But oh well everything else was wonderful and the people that have come up with negative reviews about the rooms are obviously used to staying in over the top expensive resorts because I have nothing negative to say about the rooms at all.
Very happy and hope to come back again one day.

Wow, we stayed on the 17th floor in a coral sea view room and what a way to wake up each day...The balcony privacy and size was fantastic. The staff were so polite. The rooms were spacious enough for us and our 2 kids. The breakfast downstairs is ok but much nicer over at the beach club.. It's fab how you can have breakfast at all the different locations... Beds comfy and very clean..rooms serviced daily. We loved our stay... Thank you.

The rooms are large and comfortable and the views from the balcony are wonderful. The bathroom is large, with bath and shower, towels are good quality.

The buffet breakfast offers great choice including cheeses and meats, and fresh poached eggs and omelettes are also made to order. The choice of breads could be greater. There are two other options for breakfast on a package deal.

The integration of the whole island with free shuttles and being able to sign for everything with one bill at the end works very well, so do the transfers t/from the airport. All most efficient.

There is plenty to do, the golf buggys are great but expensive - $70 for a day, $86 for 24-hours. The variety of food is excellent and varied but oh so expensive.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor and which kind of bedding you prefer. There are more rooms with two queen beds...

The rooms and views from them was beautiful looking out over the ocean. Great food and service. Friendly helpful staff. Amenities over the island good too. Most people hire a golf buggy to get around in. Plenty of places to eat and the food at them and the hotel was very nice. Lots of activities if you want to use them or laze around and doing nothing in peace if you want. Highly Recomended.

The Reef View Hotel offers good value for money and is great for a short break from Sydney. If you carry your beach gear onto the plane, you can be relaxing on the beach or in the pool soon after you leave the airport.
Unfortunately, compared to the resorts in Hawaii or cruise ships, Hamilton Island has no waterslide or similar water activities for pre-teen kids. Children are not even allowed to jump or dive into any of the pools! This meant that a lot of our time was spent organising entertainment for our children, rather than them entertaining themselves. If there were some "wet and wild' type rides for children it would have given us more time to relax.

Room Tip: We paid for a room with an ocean view - well worth the extra.
