From the moment we opened the door to our room we were blown away by the spectacular vista. The room was spacious, modern, well appointed with a large functional and luxurious bathroom. It would been easy to sit back and relax from our room if only Hamilton Island didn't have so many other activities to offer! You even get a magnificent view from the glass lift transporting you up to your room.
The hotel offered all the facilities of 4 star accommodation the only disappointment we had was when the lady at the hotel tour desk gave us misinformation which led to us missing a tour that we wished to book.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Reef View Hotel and are looking forward to saving up so we can book another holiday here

Room Tip: Ask for a Coral Sea View room, the higher the better.

Recently returned from 5 nights at the Reef View Hotel, Hamilton Island. We were upgraded to a Coral View room and had an amazing view. The room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was included in our package and was fantastic. We had breakfast at the wildlife park once and the rest of the time at the Pool Terrace restaurant (there's more variety at the pool terrace).
The only negative was that the room had 2 double beds - we would have preferred one queen/king.

Reef View is a very good hotel with a fantastic view from every room.

The staff are very helpful although we were waiting a long time for our room to be ready on arrival despite original promises. We could have been treated better and I need to complain about the time we had been waiting and eventually got satisfaction with some refreshment.

The Island is a paradise although like the rest of Australia is very expensive - particularly for food and drink despite the country producing all their requirements.

Avoid restaurants where children eat free if you do not have children these are school canteens

The biggest issue is the lack of free wifi and the hotel charge over the odds for usage. Download speeds are also very poor. Australia needs to catch with the rest of the world.

The hotel is a great place for a holiday.

Room Tip: Higher floors have great views

Dear Ptbutler,

I am disappointed that it was not communicated to you that Wi-Fi is complimentary to all guests of the Reef View Hotel. This complimentary Wi-Fi is available in your room and also at a number of Hamilton Island hotspots across the island. There was clearly a communication breakdown here and I will move to ensure that the access to free Wi-Fi, and the instructions on how to connect, are clearly communicated to all guests on arrival.

Thanks for your feedback, and please accept my apologies regarding those unfortunate operational glitches that impacted the enjoyment of your stay. I'm glad that despite these glitches you had a largely positive stay at the Reef View Hotel.

Warm Regards

Stayed for 5 nights relaxation in the middle of the Lions rugby tour - it was a great place to get away and totally chill out. I had a fab view from floor 18 over the beach and sea - worth upgrading for the view. The room was spacious and the bathroom was good with both bath and shower. My only negative is I wish there had been a microwave or something but then this was a hotel so I hadn't really expected that. The staff are always so helpful and friendly throughout the complex. Had breakfast most mornings at the hotel and one morning with the koalas at the wildlife park. The pool at the hotel was heated but some of the others around the resort aren't heated and were very cold. The beach is nice when the tide is in otherwise it isn't great. Free shuttle to the village marina area otherwise is a short walk. A good option is hiring a golf buggy for a few hours or day which is a great way to get around especially to go up to One Tree Hill where there are fab views and it is very popular at sunset.
Did a great full day trip to Whitehaven beach and Hill Inlet - make sure you do the full day trip if you want the amazing viewing deck at Hill Inlet otherwise half day trips don't take you there.
Staying on Hamilton is a great introduction to the Whitsundays and great for families - if I was doing it again I might spend a few days cruising before staying on the island just as a way to see more of the area away from the crowds.

Dear Pen10poppy,

Thanks for taking the time to review The Reef View Hotel and providing such positive feedback.(Thank you also for not gloating about the result of the Lions Rugby Tour).

I'm glad you took advantage of our location to explore the beautiful Whitsundays and Whitehaven Beach, whilst also taking advantage of everything else that Hamilton Island has to offer.

Unfortunately it's twelve years until the Lions rugby team return to our shores, but the good news is that you don't have to wait that long to return to the beautiful Whitsundays. I hope to see you back here soon.

Warm Regards

We went to Hamilton for a weeks break at the end of the June / July school holidays and booked into the Reef View hotel just from a internet search. I am so glad that we did as it has been an excellent choice. We did stay in one of the 2 story reef view suites and it was a very comfortable room. We only had two gripes with the room. The first one is that it was advertised as having a kitchenette and when I called to confirm what the "kitchenette" consisted of I was told there was no cooking facilities except for a microwave which on arrival didn't even have one of those. The only other problem is that upstairs there is no door to the bathroom which wouldn't normally be a problem only that there is also no covers for the windows over the bath so the light steams through there of a morning. But that aside the room was large, clean and comfortable and the staff were excellent. It is only a very short walk across to the beach and as it was winter when we were here the heated pool just outside the hotel keep the kids entertained for ages. We missed out on a trip to the reef as the wind was excessive for our stay but I think we will have to come back for a weekend and if they are available we will be booking back in here....

Imagine an island where your every vacation wish is realized, that is Hamilton Island. This is a true vacation oasis, from golf, to tennis to beaches, to holding a Koala. Truly a world class resort in the Whitsunday Islands. While there are a number of accommodations options the Reef View Hotel is where we chose. A five star hotel in every sense of the word. The perfect family resort and hotel

Hi asaxey,

I'm so happy we have left you with these great memories of Australia. Although we are only a 4 star Hotel. Nevertheless, I'm pleased that you and the family had a five star experience.

Thanks for your review

Took my two teenage children up to Hamilton Island for this first week of school holidays. Needed to get some sun and warmth away from a Melbourne winter. A beautiful view from the 11th Floor; activities and services all within a 5-10 minute stroll or buggy ride from the Hotel. The hotel is still pretty good now that it is nearly 25 years old. The room was better than OK but agree with others who say that there is not much clothes storage space....had to use the suitcases a bit rather than wardrobes and cupboards. Room was cleaned and serviced as requested.Everything was fresh and bright. Restaurants and facilities were fine. Staff were exceptional. Only small issue I had was that the booking through the Travel Centre had us booked into two Queen beds rather than three singles, and my son and daughter were booked in as Mr and Mrs, and I was the "child"!! - we had a good laugh about that :). Costs are pretty high for meals, drinks etc, but it is what you expect for an island resort where everything has to come from the mainland.
I recommend the Reef View, and Hamilton Island to families of any ages, and for couples or friends looking for a relaxing break away.

Room Tip: Ensure you get 8th floor and above for the wonderful views
