“Beach Club was Perfection”
Reviewed December 1, 2008

We stayed at the Beach Club for our honeymoon and it was booked as a Romance Package for 5 nights. We flew to Hamilton Island from Brisbane with Jetstar and were met by one of the very friendly but not annoying friendly staff from the Beach Club.

We stayed on a ground floor room which was about 15 metres away from the pool area. From the moment we walked into the room we were amazed. Firstly there is an oil burner with frangipani oil which instantly reminds me of summer, sun and beach.
The room overlooks the beach and lawn area with your own private large patio area and deck chairs and sunlounger. The bathroom has a separate bath and shower and 2 sinks. The products are gorgeous and the room was comfortable, spacious and modern with wooden floors and shutters.

The infinity pool and the beach area were never full and we always got a lounger. The staff were very attentive but not overbearing. Breakfast were a treat every morning. That view over the Whitsundays is one I will never forget.

We did a half day excursion to Whitehaven Beach on a speed boat with H20 Sports, a twilight sail on the Banjo Patterson, and a Dinner Cruise on the Denison Star. We also visited the Koala Sanctuary, had a Seafood Dinner at Mariners, rented a golf buggy for an hour for the craic and had Wagyu Beef at the Steakhouse.

The Beach Club was perfect for our honeymoon as it was an adults only resort, so there were no kids running around or screaming. Completely relaxing and the surroundings really were 5 star but not in clinical way. Tropical with bags of class.

It was also handy being able to charge everything to the room on Hamilton Island. I would completely recommend Hamilton Island for 5 nights as you can do as much or as little as you want. Also the temperate was around 27-28 degrees every day so it wasn't too hot either in October.

I would not recommend going in Australian School Holiday time as it would be too hard trying to get a reservation at most of the restaurants and the relaxation spas. October is a perfect time of year as the jellyfish are not out yet and therefore swimming in the sea is not a danger.

It really was the perfect honeymoon destination on the Whitsundays. Unforgettable!!!

The Beach Club was a Wonderful experience for our 20th Anniversary. From the moment we were picked up at the airport to the moment we left we were looked after like Royalty. True Bliss in service in every way.
The staff made sure we knew of the services offered upon arrival with a chat in the club lounge over a complimentary cocktail.
The personalised greeting card and well wishes for our 20th Anniversary along with the chilled champagne on arrival in our room was a lovely touch.
The Beach Club was thriving with Professional Staff that answered every question and organised every adventure booking Flawlessly.
We were kept up to date with these bookings as the weather did play a factor in some, even when the reception was inundated with queries from other guests.
Being Chauffered aroung the island drew the eyes of awe from many tourists as they had to hire their own golf buggies. The trips were Fun and informative from the staff and were always done on request promptly.
The Reception/Front desk Staff were full of smiles and Professionalism. Working at an open air desk must give them the fresh bubbly attitude they have, so much so that they just cannot do enough for you. The Frontdesk Supervisor has a memory for requests and an answer for eveything like we have never experienced before.
Eating on the island we decided to go to the main recommended places.
"Romano's" - provincial Italian food in their opinion that was tasteless and not prepared by an Italian chef. Both our dishes were in desperate need of flavour. There were many tables empty and other guests we spoke to couldn't get a booking as they said they were fully booked but maybe this could be caused by understaffing levels.
"Mariner's"- a Seafood restaurant with no Crayfish/Lobster availiable ? The one person seafood platter was of a quality expected at a local bistro and one oyster we ate was dubiously foul tasting...! Two choices only on the menu for non-seafood lovers :(
"Toucan Tango"- having had lunch there we found it a delight in cafe style food, from the soup to the burgers all were of good quality and fair price.
"Mariner Deli"- was also a good place for a quick lunch with "Panini's" that were tasteful and fairly priced.
"Manta Ray Cafe"-"Pizza by Design" well I thought I could design my own pizza by there 'motto' but after much menu searching and rustling by the understaffed waiters I ordered a "Soprano" pizza. I should have read the menu better as Fetta cheese has no real place on a pizza in my opinion. Also my Wife's Chicken pizza should have been called a bacon pizza with some chicken.
"Denison Star Dinner Cruise"- I payed extra for a "Captain's Table" this gave us extra choices off the menu and two bottles of wine from the list, the food was of a standard not expected on such a cruise and the whole night was truely a wonderful experience, all 4 hours of it. Thanks to the friendly Captain and his crew for a great night... :)
"Beach Club Restaurant"- We had our first lunch there which was the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. A nice and light meal upon arriving but the taste was exceptional and lasted with me for the rest of the day. We ate dinner there on the Saturday night from the "A-La-Carte" menu we both tried dishes we wouldn't normally order & they were truely a delight, refined, delicious & complimented by the wine on offer that were a credit to the Executive chef in charge.
We met some guests there we now call friends and they had the "Degustation" menu and were in awe of their experience.
Now experience tells us eat at the Beach Club more... Next time !
Kudos to the chef.
The Friday night the meet and greet "Happy Hour" with complimentary drinks was taken up by a 1 1/2 hr chat with the general manager who told us of her career overseas and here including previously managing "Qualia" also on the island. We found her a fascinating woman of the world and a wonderful host.
The "Infinity Edge Pool" never became boring to look at, even now having breakfast at home I daydream of the veiw we had each morning with our complimentary gourmet breakfast. As mentioned in previous reviews here, we had no trouble getting a second coffee and in fact were always asked if we wanted a second one. I should also mention the fresh juices available were outstanding.
We did hire a golf buggy for 3 hours only to tour the backstreets and just to say we had a drive... lol $65 inc. insurance otherwise you pay for all damage no matter how much it costs.
The Beach Club pool is the only one heated on the island and also the most photgraphed. Expect chilled water and melon treats to be offered to you poolside even when you haven't ordered drinks.
The rooms were comfy, modern and the tv could be hidden away behind doors just to hear the ocean only metres away.
Beds were "turned" early in the evening and the well stocked deluxe mini-bar had no limit of enticement. The shower was big with great pressure and plenty of hot water.
Our flight home was delayed so we checked in our luggage as per usual and the staff bought us back to the Beach Club to sit out the time.
Drinks, goodbyes to staff followed...!
We would like to thank Ashlee B. and Nicolette especially for making our stay such a fabulous time at the Beach Club.
We couldn't recommend the Beach Club enough to prospective travellers.

We stayed at the Beach Club for 3 nights (Sept. 1-4). This was my second visit to Hamilton Island (Last one 9 years ago). Overall, it was a good stay at the beach club.

The beach club is a small hotel, on the water for adults only. Service throughout was very good. This hotel is very good, but not true 5 star style (So don't expect the Four Seasons).

Our room was on the lower floor, nice size room, clean and like some have said a little dated. on the furniture. As a nice touch for our anniversary, the hotel left a nice Hamilton Island book and beverages in our room on arrival.

Breakfast each morning was great, we are early risers so did not deal with some of the crowd's others had mentioned. We did have one lunch their, very expensive (Like everywhere else on the island). Though there are many restaurants, they are overpriced for what you get.

For excursions, we did the sunset cruise and Whitsundays/Whitehaven visit both with Banjo Paterson. Both were very good, while Whitehaven is great, it is WAY to busy now. I must say, I did not enjoy it nearly as much as my last visit (Still a great beach though).

Overall a good visit, but now being twice have no plans on going back. The island is getting very built up and busy and with so many other islands to visit.

Just got back from 3 days at the Beach Club on Hamilton Island. WONDERFUL! Don't worry about the negatives on this site: my husband and I have stayed in plenty of 5 star hotels, and this rates right up there. Beautiful room - new and clean. Excellent food and service. Peaceful, intimate, great for couples! Loved the beach, which had the only "cushioned" lounge chairs for guests only! We enjoyed our entire trip!
We dined one night at the Beach Club, for their "Seafood Grill" - expensive, but worth it! We also recommend Mariners, in town. The Beach House was only okay, but nice location right on the water.
H2O was the best for the snorkel and diving trips - smaller groups, so more personalized, fun service.
I liked the "commercialization" aspect of Hamilton Island - there was enough restaurants, boating companies, and shopping to choose from, but the Beach Club felt like it was miles away!

We recently stayed at the Beach club-the final part of our holiday to Australia. We arrived on Hamilton Island where we were warmly welcomed and whisked away on a buggy to the hotel. It was lovely not to worry about our suitcases which were duly collected by a member of staff.Check in was smooth and swift and despite arriving at 10am, our room was ready.
We were on the first floor and had a lovely view of Catseye beach and the islands. The furniture in the rooms is quite dated but they were comfortable and clean. My only concern was at night -the upstairs walkway was very poorly lit and it was very difficult to see where you were going.
The hotel is only small and at breakfast the following morning when I ordered a second cup of tea I was asked to move into the lounge area as people were waiting for a table. I hadn't finished my breakfast !and felt under pressure to move. This however did not happen again.Service at breakfast was ok but nearly every day my cereal bowl or fruit plate was not cleared away before my main breakfast. Staff were standing around chatting to each other and they weren't busy.
Whilst relaxing by the lovely pool we were offered a glass of iced water. We were also offered a sliced strawberry or minute melon ball!
The reception staff were very helpful and beach club guests are offered complimentary buggy transport around the island.
We did not eat in the hotel. We chose to eat at Mariners in the marina which I would highly recommend.
The Beach club was fine and we enjoyed our stay but compared to the 5 star hotels we have stayed in in other countries such as Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand the standard of service did not live up to our expectations.
The hotel is very peaceful and the beach front setting is lovely and in our opinion that is what you pay for.

We stayed 4 days in Beach Club Resort.
Staff was extremely helpful and well trained. Service was good.
The trouble is that the Hamilton Island is owned by one entity, one family business .Hence,no competition.
Food on the entire Island is expensive and bad.
The whole feeling was Orvelian.1984..Big brother wathching...
In general..rip off. Will not come back.

For a romantic end to our trip in Australia my wife & I spent 4 nights in the best accomodation we could afford in Hamilton. Being both positive and picky, the following is a summary of what we found:-
*We were delighted to have been given a nicely styled, good sized - first floor room and the luggage appeared immediately after a welcome introduction and courtesy cocktail. A couple of very minor repairs were required, such as the shutters but it is understood that some work is planned during the current (2008)winter season. The beach was a stones throw away but unfortunatley from this room at the end of the block, it was obscured by palm trees for a large part. The Bougainvillea bar almost next door may have been a problem had the resort been full, but for our stay only once did any noise intrude on the peace and quiet. The shower was excellent, plenty of powerful hot water. For another visit though I'd see if any of rooms 206, 207 and 208 were available, for the best view, yet still away from the bar next door.!
*Being picky the beach was partly man made and rough concrete at one end was a disappointment to the eye.
*The staff in the hotel were all very professional, friendly and couldn't do enough for their guests. Only one senior lady appeared particularly insincere though and also uninformed about the area. This may have been because several of the staff were lovely in comparison and well informed too.
*Breakfast and the one meal we ate at the hotel were really very, very good so hats - off to the chef that week and thanks very much! We were also fortunate to eat breakfast outside near the great pool each day and for that we were grateful. One fly in the oinment for a venue charging upmarket prices though...............when outside a guest cannot see whether the hotel needs a table for later arrivals to breakfast. On three occassions we had to wait ages and ages for a second coffee. on the last day a coffee arrived but with the question as to whether we could move inside to the lounge. Not a problem, but we'd rather have known earlier that week and drunk that second coffee with breakfast rather than near lunch time each morning!! {We assume that staff levels were adequate during the quiet - end to the season and that it was thought we'd move without more caffeen?}
*The hotel staff drove us willingly to anywhere we wanted and booked tables at both the Mariners and Romanos restaurants. Both were good but the Mariners served the best seafood we ate throughout the whole trip to Australia.
*On the Island H2O Sportz took the pair of us on our first dives - ever and their team were great fun and very kind too.
*All in all a great stay but for that high quality beach experience we'd probably look elsewhere for the money........although we'd also want to take some of the nice staff from the Beach Club with us!

  • Liked — Room size and style, 99% of the staff and the great chef that week.
  • Disliked — One member of staff only, perhaps an off day or so?
