“Don't be tempted by the prentences...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2013

My partner and I ate here last night. We decided to save Bommie for our last night to finish off what was an amazing holiday on Hamilton Island. The view of the water was spectacular, especially when dining at sunset, and the setting was elegant and romantic. Unfortunately this is the extent of this restaurant's positives. The atmosphere was sterile and the wait service (after having been surrounded by some of the most helpful and polite staff at the Beach Club all week) was mediocre. The only aspect of my meal that I actually enjoyed was the oysters, which are simply served like they would be at any other restaurant, so you couldn't really get too excited. My partner's lobster tail was tasteless and my main of scallop risotto was too creamy and cheesy, an obvious attempt at disguising the lack of flavour. I also ordered a cocktail after making a point of asking the waitress if it was a cream-based cocktail (because that's what I wanted) and she said yes. When it arrived it was in no way cream-based - it was essentially a glorified glass of champagne for $18.50. When I think about the fact that our $22 fish and chip lunch at the marina was so much more enjoyable than this $170 sting, I feel a little bit sick inside. Unless you're the type of person who gets enjoyment out of paying a crazy amount of money for a meal at a pretentious restaurant and don't actually care about the quality of the food, please don't bother. Enjoy your holiday!

Great service. Fantastic oysters and steak. Wonderful lobster gazpacho. Chips not a strength. Nice setting. At this price point qualia better in simplicity and food quality.

“Simply atrocious”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

We are in ouble if this is number 2 on this small Island. Where will we eat the next 7 nights. The restaurant at night when dark outside is soulless and feels like a cheap hotel bistro. Kept waiting as no one at reception. Chairs were ridiculously uncomfortable. But worst was the food. Almost inedible. And all for the knock down price pf £156. Truly shocking.

“Best restaurant on Hamilton island”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013

We had been told that Bommie was the best restaurant on the island so had high expectations, which in all fairness were well met. The food was delicious and the service first class. Slightly better than the long pavillion at Qualia (just).
