“Unacceptable”

On arrival to Hamilton Island airport we were meant to be picked up by a minivan to be transported to our accommodation. After 2 and a half hours waiting at the airport in the hot sun with 3 small children and no answers from the accommodation on what was going on and no one taking responsibility (not to mention the booking agency not answering our calls over and over), we finally got picked up to be then told the accomm had not been cleaned and would be done on our arrival.
The accomm was poorly cleaned, all of our feet were black in a few hours of walking bare foot in the house, the floors were so dirty and it didn't seem like it had been vacuumed at all as there was clumps of dust and hair throughout the place.
We were given a box of chocolates and two bottles of wine to say sorry from the cleaners which was lovely but this did not compensate for the terrible start to our holiday we had. 2 weeks on and still no one has taken responsibility and we have not been compensated for what happened. Terrible service.

I am terribly sorry to hear that your holiday started out this way! I have spoken with the staff member in the office the day you arrived who assured me that she spoke to yourself personally, as well as another staff member at our Cannonvale Office and both were calling to get hold of the Valet Services on The Island to get you picked up as soon as possible.As you can appreciate Accom Whitsunday are located on the mainland so we rely heavily on our services team on the Island and our only method of contact is via phone and/or email. Regardless this does not excuse the fact that the property was not clean for your arrival and I am certainly looking into why it was not clean and how to further improve our services so our future guests do not encounter any problems. Please accept my sincere apologies for the terrible start to your holiday, if you could please give me a call on Monday I would certainly like to discuss this further with you.
